Before beginning, cover the play area to prevent possible damage. 1 7 8 2 ™ 1. Add one cup of water to a sauce pan over medium heat. Slowly add three cups of sugar. Stir until sugar is completely disolved. 2. Remove from heat. Add three drops of food coloring and stir to combine. NOTE: Mixture and pan will be HOT. 4 3 7. Attach the lid to the jar. Put the end of the rope string through the opening on the lid and rest the pencil on top. 9 ™ 1 inch 3. Refrigerate until mixture is cool. 5 4. Tie the rope string around a pencil so that the end is 1 inch shorter than the bottom of the jar. 6 9. When the rock sugar reaches the desired length, cut the rope string from the pencil. Remove the lid and the rock sugar and place it on a paper towel to dry. 11 8. Set the jar aside for a week or more and watch the sugar grow on the rope string. 10 10. Eat your rock sugar jewelry or cut small pieces off and store them in the ring, necklace and bracelet compartments. 12 ™ 5. Pour the mixture up to the highest measuring line on the jar. 2 2 6. Dip the end of the rope string in water . Then, thoroughly coat the rope string by rolling it in sugar. 11. String the cord through the top of the necklace. 12. String each end of the cord through the snap lock connectors and tie double knots at the ends. Cut off excess string. Snap the connectors together around your neck. 3
