To recruit a team member display an advert in Church

Set up an initial meeting to explain expectation of Role (Role Description to be written by
incumbent with consultation of pastoral visitors)

Volunteer Team members to be put through safer recruitment process

Implement training which is available through Life Long learning

On completion of training and satisfactory completion of the recruitment
procedures issue ID card, this must be time limited as this allows for the position of pastoral
team member to be reviewed (as set out by safer recruitment guidance)

Present names of those authorised to be pastoral team members to P.C.C and then call first
meeting of The Pastoral Team

Send them on their way in pairs with the following information:

Who to contact if in difficulty

Ensure they adhere to procedures of recording visits

Date of meeting of next Team meeting
It is important that we support people and communicate with team members as well as enable
them to reflect on their practise.
ID CARD TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION
Parish Name and address
Photograph of pastoral visitor
Parish Resources
Name of Visitor
Start Date
Expiry Date – should be the same date as recruitment review
Contact telephone number of a person anyone can ring for verification of the ID
Please note – if a pastoral visitor decides not to continue in their role then their ID must be
returned to the clergy in charge or churchwarden and a record kept of the date they ceased their
duties
