BERNARD FELL, 1978 - ADOPTED MARCH 4, 1789 Letters to the editor Thanks for generosity in senior project fundraiser To the editor: Lake PlacidOn June 7, Craig Wood Golf Club hosted my senior class project that was a fundraiser to benefit the Lake Placid High School Athletics Department. We generated more than $3,000 to give back to school, and it could not have been done without the much- appreciated help of sponsors and staff. These businesses include the UPS Store, Great Adirondack Steak and Seafood, Adirondack Auto, Mirror Lake Inn, Josh Cramoy Band, ORDA, Far Mor's Kids, Howard Johnson's, Wildwood Motel, Hurley Bros., Villa Vespa, NBT Bank, Fallen Arch, Mr. Mike's Pizza, Simply Gourmet, Brown Dog Deli, Saranac Inn Golf Club, Tupper Lake Country Club, Lake Placid Club Resort, Whiteface Club, Fireside Steakhouse, and The Market. A special thank you goes out to Coca-Cola for their donation of prizes, a hole sponsor,' and complimentary beverages. I would also like to thank the staff at Craig Wood Golf Club for hosting this event, and the town of North Elba for helping to make this possible. Finally, thank-you to the participants of the 21 teams who made this tournament such a success, and the many people who did not play, but donated to the cause. As I graduate this month, this will be one of the special memories I will take from Lake Placid. Aimee Caligiore .. Held at the beautiful Whiteface Club and Resort, this wonderful fundraising event was filled with great food, fun; dancing and the spirit of generosity. We depend on this community support for a portion of our budget, and we are thankful to live in an area that recognizes the value of having St. Agnes School available as an important educational option. Our small Catholic school has a proven record of graduating high-achieving students who have gone on to be positive, contributing members of society. St. Agnes produces students who excel in academics, know how to problem solve, are good role models, understand the value of contributing to the community and have a strong focus on personal faith and values. This is what all parents hope for when choosing a school for their children. We sincerely thank all of our generous supporters over the years for helping to keep this opportunity available here in Lake Placid. Sincerely, Margie Gallagher St. Agnes Ed Council Lake Placid A good-bye to John Wisner To the editor: It was shocking and unfortunate news, the passing of John "Bucky" Wisner. He was a man of character and integrity. He brought joy and a sense of security to so many people. I wanted to pass on to those who are interested, there is a book signing on line; go to timesunion.com, click on obituaries, and follow the prompts for book signings under John Wisner. May he rest in peace.
