Water aerobics, also called aqua aerobics, use the natural resistance and buoyancy of water against your body to provide a wide variety of conditioning activity. Just like swimming, our water aerobics classes are easy on your joints, yet challenging enough to help you reach new levels of fitness. No swimming is required in water aerobics, and flotation devices are used frequently. Water exercise helps increase your energy, stamina and strength. Deep water aerobics are performed in water deep enough so that there is no impact on the bottom of the pool. A buoyancy belt is used for free-floating support, which frees your hands and legs to perform large movements against the resistance of the water. The exercises are designed to strengthen your heart 4 and skeletal muscles, increase agility, as well as improving range of motion. The water’s buoyancy supports joints, allowing freedom of movement, which can prevent stiffness and soreness.
