Most importantly, they work
as a team.
They have an undefeated

won every match, they have
won every game of every
match. Championship games
are Friday, October 3rd.

JOHNNY APPLESEED DAY
On September 19th, the VPK classes celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day. They were entertained by Johnny Appleseed (played by
Ben Kijanka) who sang about his mission to plant apple trees across America. The activities included making crafts, examining
different kinds of apples, and, of course, eating apple treats.
PRINCIPAL’S POINT
Fall is such a great season. After a long hot summer, crisp air
that comes in the fall invigorates me. I know my spiritual life
is always in need of some invigorating, too. Here are some
things that help me keep that power continually flowing.
F-Fellowship with
Other Christians
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the
Lord." Colossians 3:16
A-Abiding in Christ.
"The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in
them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know
it by the Spirit he gave us. ." 1 John 3:24
L-Leaning on Christ.
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in
trouble."
Psalm 46:1
ONE
MOUTH
FOR
See You At The Pole
See You At The Pole is an event that is observed during the
month of September at schools around our nation. It is a time
for students to gather around the flag pole to pray. This event
started in 1990 when a group of students started praying for
their school. Now, millions of people pray for our schools and our
country at SYATP. The students in our chapel stood around the
American Flag and prayed for our school, teachers, and country.
One student from each class led in prayer.
L-Living for Christ.
TALKING
"Serve the LORD with gladness..." Psalm 100:2
I think that having the power of Christ in my life just simply
means doing what I know I need to do. I need to be walking
daily with the Lord in order to have His crisp and invigorating
power breezing through in my life.
So, how's your F-A-L-L?

WELCOME TWO MORE OF NEW TEACHERS CHARLESTON WRAP FUNDRAISER RESULTS
We would like to welcome our new music teacher,
Mrs. Mandy Hedler. Mrs. Hedler was inspired by her
mother, Mrs. Wiley, to teach music since Mrs. Wiley
was a great music teacher. She loves sharing music
with little children. She took piano lessons when she
was a child and sang in choirs in high school. Mrs.
Hedler’s very first job was working at the Limited in
the mall.
Mrs. Hedler’s favorite hobbies include playing the
piano, singing, and exercising with her kids. Mrs.
Hedler came to work here at LPBS because she went
to school here. She goes to Family Church Abacoa.
Our new third grade teacher, Mrs. Walker, always
had a love for teaching children. Her very first job was
teaching kindergarten. She has taught all ages:
elementary, middle, high, and post-high school. Last
year, she taught at Kissimmee Middle School in
Orlando. Mrs. Walker relocated and was searching
for a teaching job when she found one at LPBS. She
now teaches all the subjects for third grade.
Mrs. Walker’S hobbies are swimming and running.
Over the summer, she and her family visited some
resorts in Orlando. Mrs. Walker and her family attend
Winners’ Church.
FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL
Mrs. Joanne Kijanka appeared in
both chapels to announce the
upcoming Fall Family Festival. She
reminded us of all the different
activities from last year’s festival
that would be returning this year.
She also announced the rock
climbing wall and the bungee jump
that will be added to this year’s fun.
Save the date: October 25th, 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m.
DICTIONARIES FROM THE ROTARY CLUB
On Thursday, October 2nd, Mr. Bob Rosenberg
presented each of our third grade students with a
dictionary. This is part of the Rotary Club’s
Literacy program. Mr. Rosenberg talked to the
students about the meaning of literacy. The
students will be able to use their new dictionaries
throughout the year as they read and write.
A special thanks to the Cottrells who started this
tradition years ago for LPBS.
The Charleston Wrap Fundraiser was a huge
success thanks the hard work of Mrs. Lisa Smith
and all of our students who participated.
The top fundraisers were Olivia Duffy, Sterling
Lee, and Ethan Holland
The Mystery Field Trip Winners are K'mari
Dixon, Olivia Duffy, Bella McLendon, Ethan
Holland, Sterling Lee, Andrew Paisley, Kody
Gehring, Kory Gehring, Paris Johnson and Gray
Langley. The Mystery Field Trip will take place
on October 16th. These students will be served
a special breakfast in the café and then will
leave campus for a special mystery trip.
The top sellers also participated in an ice bucket
challenge from Mrs. Smith.
