DUTCH MASTERS – A FAMILY RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
4 Generations of the Schaddelee Family have been baking up mouth-watering treats at the Dutch Bakery and Diner for over half
a century. Coming from the Netherlands in 1955 with 4 sons, Kees Schaddelee Sr., his wife Mable and two oldest sons Arie T.
and Jack began the delectable dynasty when they rented a tiny coffee shop on Fort St. After their schooling, younger sons, Kees
Jr. and Maarten came into the bakery too. As the four sons married, their wives, Anke, Donna, Bonita and Nadine joined in as
well. Kees and Mables’ 8 grandchildren also worked and helped throughout their growing up and school years.
A baker for more than 60 years Mr. Schaddelee retired at age 72 but could still be seen sipping coffee and savoring croquettes up
until his 97th year. Kees passed away in February 2007. The bakery has a very loyal staff; some have been with the establishment
for over 30 years. In 2013 third generation members, Jack Jr, Michele and Brook took over the family business continuing the
family traditions.
