Welcome to
Sweden’s new
forest port!
For 400 years, Swedish forests have been leaving the quays in
Gothenburg for onward export to all corners of the globe. Paper
in all its forms – timber as well as pulp. We are now investing
heavily in order to achieve significant improvements. Our mission
is to be poised to offer the Swedish forestry and paper industry
the optimal and most sustainable solution for the continued
advancement of the Swedish export sector.
In recent years, we have made a succession of investments to
ensure we are able to handle all types of forest products. These
investments include completely new dedicated forest terminals,
new train solutions and, not least of all, new and closer collaboration between Port of Gothenburg, shipping lines and other
key businesses operating in the vicinity of the port zone.
By collecting your export volumes here you will achieve a
cost-effective, sustainable logistics solution that will facilitate
your future growth. And this is the fundamental concept driving
Sweden’s new forest port.

The entire globe from the same port
Your products are in constant demand probably by companies in different countries
throughout the world. Consequently, our range of services is our primary offering to
you in the forestry industry. The combination of frequent, regular services and a wide
variety of destinations means you can consolidate your volumes here, regardless of the
location of your export market. Every week, close to 80 roro vessels and 20 container
ships depart from the Port of Gothenburg. Send your export freight to Gothenburg
and we will meet your transshipment needs for the wider world.
EUROPE AND THE MEDITERRANEAN
We have an unrivalled range of services to Europe with frequent scheduled departures. A few examples:

this substantial market.
India – direct connection to Nhava Sheva.
China, Singapore and Malaysia – every week container vessels depart
for several of China’s major ports, such as Yantian and Hong Kong.
En route, some vessels also call at ports in Singapore and Malaysia.

largest port. There is also a transshipment port for Japan.
There are direct connections to
Canada and the United States every
week from Gothenburg. Examples of
ports within our reach are Halifax in
Canada, and Baltimore, New York and

forest products are offloaded for transshipment
directly to other parts of South America.

Jebel Ali, Salalah or the Suez? Swedish forest products
are increasingly in demand by countries in the Middle East
and the Red Sea area. There are several competitive
transport options from Gothenburg, either with direct
shipping or transshipment en route.
When combined, Australia and
New Zealand are Sweden’s fourth
largest export market outside
Europe. There are shipping lines
that specialise in maritime transport
to Oceania from Gothenburg.
Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and
Qatar can also be reached easily and on a regular basis

Sweden’s largest forest port
The Port of Gothenburg is much more than a port. We are Sweden’s largest freight
hub and, on account of our unique location and tremendous capacity, we play a key
role in Swedish exports to the rest of the world. We are now making huge investments
in order to be able to offer even smarter and more efficient transport routes for
Swedish forest products.
FOREST PORT IN BRIEF
•Roro – almost 80 departures per week in regular European services.
Gothenburg Roro Terminal, Stena Line and Logent Ports & Terminals
operate the terminals.
• C ontainers – in total, the Port of Gothenburg handles approximately
70 TRAINS EVERY DAY
YOU SEND – WE SORT
You may have heard of our daily container shuttles? They
connect the Port of Gothenburg with over 25 locations
throughout Sweden, and are already being utilised by
several companies within the forestry industry. However,
container shuttles are just part of the port’s total rail
offering. For those who prefer to utilise conventional
freight wagons, new train solutions are also available.
Do you export to several different markets? Perhaps
a combination of Europe and other continents? Here at
the port, we sort your export products. Simply send
your freight to Gothenburg by the means that suits you
best. Once it has arrived, we take care of transshipment
to the right freight carrier.
Our excellent access to empty units combined with
our unique range of services with regular scheduled
departures means your freight is quickly on the move.
This represents savings in both time and money as
a result of reduced inventory.
NEW TRANSSHIPMENT OPTIONS
The Port of Gothenburg has a number of dedicated and
sheltered terminals for speedy, efficient transshipment
of paper and pulp. More recently, these terminals have
been supplemented with terminals for sawn timber.
This means you can now decide how you would like
your freight transported to the port: container train or
conventional freight wagons, truck or trailer train.
All options are available.
