Description: You will observe the animals in the manatee tank and find out where they spend most of their
time.
Location at Zoo: Manatee Springs
Materials: pencil and clock or stopwatch
Activity: Read all the directions before you begin. Find a partner to
work with. One of you will be the Observer; the other will be the
Recorder.
1. Choose 1 animal, manatee or fish, you want to observe in
the tank.

2. Divide the tank into 3 zones: Upper, Middle, and Lower.
3. Write the zone your animal is in at the beginning of your start time.
1. Observer: Watch your animal for 5 minutes. Tell the Recorder
each time your animal changes zones.
Recorder: Use the chart and record the time and zone your
animal goes in. If you run out of space, use the back of the
page.
