Ellero Gewürztraminer / Central Otago This grape is much easier to drink than it is to pronounce. Dry & Spicy with aromas of rose petal & elderflower and a little kick from ginger. Millton “Te Arai” Chenin Blanc / Gisborne Biodynamic, organic & packed to the rafters with pear, quince & white flower honey. Sorry South Africa but this is the best Chenin outside the Loire. Clos de L’Ours “Grizzly” / Cotes du Provence, France Fresh & subtle with hints of white flowers, this wee French won’t leave you feeling like a bear with a sore head. Chateau Pegau / Cote du Rhone, France This wine is thought to be at its best between 2015-2022 but we think 7 minutes isn’t long enough to savour this ripe, rich & fruity example from the Rhone. Church Rd “McDonald Series” Merlot / Hawkes Bay Dark & brooding with a powerful palate structure & loads of depth could Mr McDonald be the new Mr Darcy? Two Hands “Gnarly Dudes” Shiraz / Barossa, Australia This burly brute from Barossa delivers fruit & spice with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Gnarly indeed. Craggy Range “Single Vineyard” Syrah / Hawkes Bay Move over Joseph Parker, this heavyweight from the Bay packs a serious punch, no ring required. Ata Rangi “Celebre” Merlot, Syrah, Cab / Martinborough Rich & generous with dark berries & spice. Full flavoured & sweet fruited. Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon / Margaret River, Australia The original red wine from Margaret River & hasn’t missed a vintage since 1972. Same age as Gwyneth Palthrow but with a lot more body! – 110 YANG red PINOT NOIR Terra Sancta “Mysterious Diggings” / Central Otago GB 12.558 There is no mystery why we dig this drop with plums, cherries & velvet tannins, a true Bannockburn expression. Ballasalla / Central Otago –70 A juicy & full-flavoured cracker that is alive with berries, cherries & a touch of spice. A younger, easy drinking Pinot but still has that little bit of X Factor. Coal Pit / Central Otago 15.5 72 16 75 19 88 – 98 This Gibbston Valley beauty is groaning with bright cherries & savoury herb notes. Sensational. Harakeke Farm Pinot Noir / Nelson More dream weaver than basket weaver this pinot is delicious & fragrant with just a touch of spice. Two Paddocks / Central Otago More Emily Bronte than Brontosaurus, this pinot has the poise & elegance, charm & complexity of a classic bodice ripper. Mondillo / Central Otago This classic pinot is drinking beautifully. 5 stars from everyone who knows what they are talking about, & Madam Woo. Dog Point / Marlborough – 100 Far from a dog this Marlborough Pinot has legs but doesn’t require the walks. Only one thing better than a glass of this one and that’s a bottle!
