Structure types and workspace requirements August 2010 Heartland 12S Substation and 240 kV Transmission Line (1054L/1061L) Project At all structure locations, AltaLink will be seeking workspace area in addition to the required transmission line right-of-way. Optional temporary workspace and additional required right-of-way is needed for the safe construction of the transmission structures including the structure assembly, installation and stringing. This booklet includes diagrams of the workspace area required for each type of structure that will make up the proposed transmission line. There are five different structure types. To determine what structure type is proposed to be located on or near your property: Tangent Structure Light Angle Structure Heavy Angle Structure Light Deadend Structure Heavy Deadend Structure 1. Refer to the strip mosaic map, included in this package, which has a close-up view of your property. 2. The photo map will have structure locations indicated with symbols on the left, which are colour coded by structure type. 3. Find the colour of the structure type symbol on the pages included in this booklet. This will be the structure proposed for that location. Optional temporary workspace: This is an area beyond the transmission line right-of-way next to the transmission structures to help us build the line more efficiently. We may need optional temporary workspace for the Tangent and Angle structures. Additional required right-of-way: This is additional area beyond the transmission line right-of-way that we use to build the structures and operate the line. We will be seeking additional required right-of-way for the Heavy Angle, Light Deadend and Heavy Deadend and structures. The only land area taken out of the existing land use base is the area of each individual structure footprint. Landowners will receive compensation for both optional temporary workspace and the additional required right-of-way. Discussions regarding acquiring these spaces will be negotiated on an individual basis with landowners. Workspace diagrams In addition to the required right-of-way or optional temporary workspace, the diagrams included in this booklet also identify the: • Crane footprint: the work area required for a crane to lift the structure into place • Foundation area: the approximate area of the structure foundation • Right-of-way: the strip of land required for the construction and operation of the transmission line 1-877-723-6851 (toll-free) [email protected] www.albertaelectrictiyfuture.ca TANGENT (0^-1^) 24m-37m 44m-57m 19.5m 8m-12m TYPICAL TANGENT STRUCTURE NOTES - TANGENT STRUCTURE CENTRED WITHIN 55m RIGHT OF WAY N.T.S.
