A
delegation of women from
the Anglican Communion
will take part in the 53rd
session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women
(UNCSW), to be held March 2 to
13. The Anglican women, representing some 30 of the 38 provinces of the Anglican Communion,
are nominated by the Primates
(leading archbishops or presiding
bishops) of their provinces.
The themes of the CSW are determined by reviewing the agree-
ments made at the Fourth World
Congress on Women held in Beijing in 1995. Themes for this year
are:
uPriority theme: The equal
sharing of responsibilities between
women and men, including caregiving in the context of HIV/AIDS.
uReview
theme: Equal participation of women and men in decision-making processes at all levels.
uEmerging theme: The gender
perspectives of the financial crisis.
