Dear Parents,
On Sunday, December 20th, we light the fourth candle of our Advent wreath. As the final
days before Christmas draw near, the busyness of the season can be distracting from the real
reason for the celebration. The presence of the Advent wreath, the manger and other religious
symbols help to remind us of the reason for our celebration.
St. Peter Church has a number of Christmas masses to accommodate all our families:
Christmas Eve—5:00 PM Mass up & down (this fills up very quickly).
Midnight Mass upstairs only
Christmas Day—9:30 AM upstairs only
11:00 AM upstairs only
CHRISTMAS CONCERT: The children performed beautifully at our annual concert this
year. Once again, I would like to thank Ms. Shatakhtsian, Father Messina, the teachers and
staff, along with all our families for supporting us at this year’s concert. I know it is a busy time
of year and I appreciate that you all took time out of your weekend to attend.
SAVE AROUND BOOKS: We are still waiting on the purchase or return of Save Around
Books from some of our families. Notices were sent home earlier this week to families who
have not returned or purchased a book. We need to complete this fundraiser before Christmas
vacation begins. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation.
Our top seller (26 books) was Keira Hunt in Preschool 3 and the winner of the Radio Control
Minion drawing was Addison Mendoza, Grade 1. In order to be eligible for the drawing you
had to sell 15 or more books.
CONGRATULATIONS: We congratulate Jack Pine, Grade 5, for being selected as a finalist
in the RI Kids’ Healthy Recipe Contest. As mentioned in our newsletter a few weeks ago, Jack
submitted Chocolate Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread for this contest. The category winners
will be announced on January 9, 2016. We wish Jack the best of luck!
Sophia Hopkins and Kyla D’Eletto participated in the Pop Warner National Cheer and
Dance Competition last week in Florida. Sophia, Kyla and their fellow team members
finished in Second Place in the Jr. Midget Level One Large Division. Great job, Sophia and
Kyla!
BASKETBALL: The Junior D2 boys team played St. Mary Sacred Heart last weekend.
Though they lost 34-16, they played a great game and had a great second half. The next
game will take place on Saturday, December 19th at 3:00 PM against St. Rocco at Mount St.
Charles Court 1.
CHRISTMAS FUN DAY: Christmas Fun Day is Monday, December 21st. This is a mini
bazaar for all our students where they are able to buy reasonably priced gifts for their family
and friends as well as take chances to win prizes at our Penny Social. On Monday, December
21st, please send some spending money in with your child in an envelope marked with their
name and grade (especially the younger students). For your convenience, a flyer went home
last week, listing the prices of our most popular items. A special luncheon, purchased prior to
Fun Day, will be served to students who chose this option. Monday is a Dress Down Day.
Please dress down in Christmas colors!!!
CHRISTMAS CAROLING: Christmas caroling also takes place on Monday evening,
December 21st. Grades 1-5 will gather in the cafeteria at 5:30 PM. They will return to the
cafeteria after singing carols in the neighborhood. Pick-up time is promptly at 7:00 PM in the
cafeteria.

R.0.A.R.--These four letters stand for Respect Others Act Responsibly. We had two
presentations on Tuesday by a gentleman from Hawaii who goes around the country
addressing school children about respect and responsibility. It was an excellent presentation
from which the children benefitted greatly. They were a well-behaved and captive audience
for such an important topic in today’s society.

The time of Advent that the Church celebrates in preparation for Christmas . . . is a new
journey of the People of God with Jesus Christ, our Shepherd, who guides us in history
towards the completion of the Kingdom of God.
