Employee Activities Committee News Page The Connector December 2013, Volume 1, Issue 7 T he MISS DIG System EAC extends its very best wishes to all for a blessed holiday season along with our sincere thanks for your support throughout our first year. You made so many good things happen within the office and throughout our respective communities. To all employees…..from your suggestions to your generous donations, your participation was key to a successful kickoff of this employee group. Thank you for all food donations for the food banks around us. Thank you for sending holiday greetings to our military abroad. Thank you for donating to the EAC coffers. Thank you for dressing up for Halloween and thank you for walking in the Buddy Walk in Escanaba. We’re sure we’ve missed something so we will just say…….Thank you for everything. We also wish to thank all EAC team members for their hard work. It is apparent that all have confidence that this group can have a lasting, positive impact on the future of the MISS DIG organization. With that in mind, we can look forward to new EAC projects in 2014. We will continue to task all to keep moving throughout the winter months. Anticipate a GET HEALTHIER challenge in January. Start tracking your activities on January 1st. In the meantime, don’t forget to hit the treadmill in the office on the cold, slippery days. A s 2013 comes to a close and the new year’s resolutions are looming, it’s very encouraging to witness, first-hand, some amazing weight loss successes among us. The past year has seen some tremendous physical changes in a few CSR’s. Linda Portelli and Kay Oatley of AH have lost 36 and 25 lbs respectively. The biggest loser this year was Gladstone’s Shannon Gagne; down 55 lbs since January. Way to go, Shannon!!! An abundance of holiday treats will challenge us all in the next few weeks so we asked these three to share their holiday eating strategy to stay on track through December. Shannon will eat in moderation, take a small taste of everything and will continue her daily regime of exercise. Kay will eat before she attends a party and pledges to put only healthy choices on her plate. Linda advocates being conscious of what she eats and will question if a food splurge is worth the calories before she opens her mouth. She asserts some very sensible insight into a healthy relationship with food. She reminds us that she is not dieting but has made a lifestyle choice so that a single day off-plan doesn’t sabotage her. She’ll be right back on track the next day. Great example, Linda, FOR OUR GOOD HEALTH. Halloween Memories Employees of the Month Gladstone — Heather Batchelor Auburn Hills — Dave Trousdale Doesn’t everyone have a jar of pennies, buttons, golf tees and miscellaneous change sitting around the house. These days, those pennies seem almost useless; rumors persist that they cost more to mint than they are worth. NOT ANYMORE. Make your spare change count! Who are these Gladstone trick-or-treaters??? From left to right: Mary Pascoe, Jennifer Hurkman, Lenita Scholer, Dana Strong and…...Colleen Goddard? ANNOUNCING Auburn Hills vs Gladstone Penny WARS Starting January and extending through February, there will be a spare change jar in each office. Pennies count as one cent toward that office total but silver coins and paper money (including checks) count AGAINST the opposite office. The highest (or least negative) total wins. The EAC will hold all proceeds for our next charity project but the winning office gets bragging rights as the 2014 PENNY WARS winner. Happy Birthday!
