Carla is Executive Vice President and Chief Legal, Government, Corporate Affairs
Officer of Leo Burnett Worldwide, one of the world’s largest agency networks of
creative communications companies, operating in 85 countries, and working with
national and multinational brands around the world. She sits on the Leo Burnett
Worldwide Global Leadership Board providing counsel on all aspects of legal issues
affecting the business.
Carla is recognized as one of the industry’s foremost authorities for her skill in
helping the industry and companies anticipate and address issues impacting
advertising, intellectual property, digital communication and privacy.
Carla is recognized as one of the industry’s foremost authorities on the advertising
industry’s legal and government issues. She has played a key role in strategizing and
developing industry positions on issues related to commercial speech, advertising
directed to children, digital issues, privacy and regulation. Carla organized the first
global summit of industry self-regulators and led the first meeting with the White House
to discuss internet marketing issues. She has frequently addressed audiences of both
industry and government leaders around the world.
Carla is a past Chair of the American Advertising Federation and the National
Advertising Review Council, and continues to serve on those boards. She also sits on
several civic and charitable boards including the DePaul Board of Trustees, The
Chicago Network, Junior Achievement of Chicago, Illinois Equal Justice Foundation,
Illinois Bar Foundation, International Advertising Association, Girl Scouts of Greater
Chicago & NW Indiana, Athena International and the House of Good Shepherd. She
is the Vice Chairman of the U.S. Council for International Business Marketing
Committee, and is an active member, and a past board member, of The Economic
Club of Chicago.
She has received numerous awards, including the Anti Defamation League Woman of
Achievement Award, the Justinian Bar Association Award for Excellence; DePaul Law
School's Outstanding Service to the Profession Award; was named Chicago Ad
Woman of the Year; received the Chicago Advertising Industry's prestigious Silver
Medal Award; the American Advertising Federation's Bart Cummings award; as well
as having been named to the "Today's Chicago Woman" Hall of Fame.
Carla received a Bachelor of Arts, Juris Doctor and an honorary Doctorate of Laws
from DePaul University. She is a member of the Chicago, Illinois, American, and
Justinian Bar Associations; Carla is a founding Fellow of the ISBA an ABA Fellow, and
a past Chair of the Illinois Bar Young Lawyers.
