Road improvements including signalling to existing junctions on the approach roads to a new
M&S store adjacent to Cheshire Oaks Retail Park.Other business units and some residential
properties are also nearby.
Comments
Neighbours have been informed about the sites activities,including contact details via letter drop. Regular meetings with
Cheshire Oaks. Daily contact with adjacent neighbours. TM is installed at off peak times to Chapter 8,single carriageway
closures and some footways are affected-signage and alternative routes are in place. Advance warning signs installed.
Parking within the compound or on existing verge/road area,ops advised not to obstruct drives. Deliveries are advised at off
peak times only and given route details,maps and postcodes-unloading is supervised by banksman and rigid vehicles
requested. TM plan displayed on noticeboards. No smoking policy on site-dedicated area with bin provided and advised at
induction. Access to site office/welfare good with dedicated pedestrian route with barriers.
Site environmental policy available and displayed. Pre-start H&S policy identified issues. GCN survey carried out pre start and
fencing installed around the compound area,continual checks carried out. Electric and water usage is monitored with switch off
policy,electric via timed genny and water in containers. SWMP in place with 1no. mixed covered skip-recycling currently 100%good. Topsoil reused. Inert arisings recycled. Concrete/kerbs recycled. Water bowsers available for dust supression. No
lighting affecting neighbours. Local labour encouraged,approx.50%. Local suppliers used. Toolbox talks include environmental
topics. Spill kits evident. Fuelling in designated area in compound,drip trays used. Sustainable sources used and other
materials considered for carbon footprint. Car sharing utilised.
Impressions are good on approaching the site and compound. TM neat and tidy. Good tidy signage. Entrance to compound
good. Frontage tidy of litter. Highways and footways good. Plant tidy. Office/welfare cleaned daily and in good condition. Work
areas good. Solid fencing at compound good. Materials stacked neatly. Skip good with cover in place. Water dampening
available. No graffiti evident and checks carried out. Ops carry out litter checks. Ops appearance good. Continual visual checks
on the appearance of the site-actions taken to improve if necessary.
Working hours are flexible and TM can only be installed after 09.30 and has to be removed by 15.30-work activities M to F.
Activities are planned to cause least inconvenience to the motorists and neighbours. Off peak deliveries. Contact no. displayed
on poster. No complaints nor compliments received to date-log book available. Shaun has the authority to deal with complaints.
Solid fencing forms a protection to the public at the compound area and safety zones are installed at work areas. Cabins
located away from immediate neighbours. Community events to be considered. Neighbours updated with
progress,programme and disruptive activities. TM removed when not required. Fundraising to be considered. Feedback
received daily and good. Site will improve the access to the store and appearance of the ops and equipment is continually
monitored.
Facilities are good for the ops. Toilets are screened from the public view-male/female provided,no designated
disabled,could utilise Cheshire Oaks facilities. Ops appearance good with branded PPE. Site specific induction which
covers the registration and requirements of the scheme. Courteous behaviour is promoted at induction. No offensive material
on view,checks carried out by management. Mobile phones are used in safe areas only-managed by Shaun. Good mess
room/drying area. Supply of PPE available for visitors. Disadvantaged could access the site/welfare with some minor
improvements-contact no. at gate and some temp. ramping could assist. Lock ups available for the ops.
CPHSP is available and reviewed regular-safety advisor endorses. Good dedicated pedestrian routes evident. Solid fencing
and traffic cones form barriers from the public. Banksman supervises all plant movements. No accidents nor near misses
recorded-systems in place if required. Service drawings displayed on noticeboards. MS and RA approved with signatures prior
to commencing work. Permits to work/dig madatory. Full time traffic safety officer. Emergency procedures displayed,horn
evident and muster point designated and signed,drill to be carried out. Emergency contact nos. displayed. English check is
carried out at induction.
A&E displayed on noticeboard with route details and map-copies available if needed. 4no. first aiders on site,advised at
induction and displayed on noticeboard with sticker ID on helmets-s/c first aiders are also occasionally additional on site.
Visitors are inducted and escorted whilst on site-signing in procedure. Inductions site specific. CSCS,other skills and medical
conditions are recorded at induction. CSCS 100%. Site secured at out of work hours and cabins alarmed with direct link to
mobile phone-silent alarm. 24/7contact no. displayed at offices and on advance signage. Ops sign in and out daily. School
contact to be considered. Good training scheme and apprentices encouraged-1no. on site. Equal opportunities policy
evident.
Shaun is fully aware of the scheme and has the assistance of senior managers if required. Scheme is promoted at induction.
CCS information is prominently displayed at main gate,mess room and noticeboards including banner and posters. Companys
details are also displayed-including advance warning signs. Good training in place. CCS file available. Good direction from
senior managers in assisting and providing solutions to improve the requirements of the scheme. All signage visible at night.
Good open door policy.
