 In February, Chelsea’s Annual Chocolate Extravaganza was featured
on Ann Arbor’s Pure Michigan page, garnering 170 clicks.
CHELSEA: IN THE NEWS
 Travel writer Sandra Scott included The Purple Rose Theatre in her
article, “10 Good Reasons to Visit Ann Arbor, Michigan” published in
January. The article has a $1,108 media value.
 The Ypsi Real blog “10 things to do in Chelsea” received 809 page
views between January and March 2016.
 The mammoth bones
discovery was featured
in the January Travel
Insider as one of the most
noteworthy events in the
Ann Arbor area from
2015. The Travel Insider
is delivered to more
than 160,000 individuals.
 The Visit Ann Arbor print
ad featuring The Purple
Rose Theatre was updated
with its 25th anniversary
logo. The ad was used in
the fall 2015 University of
Michigan alumni magazine.

First quarter 2016 included 10 posts featuring
the Chelsea area, its events, local businesses
reaching more than 31,000 individuals! Two of
the most popular posts promoted the
mammoth discovery and the great blog
written by Traveling Mom.
SPREADING THE WORD
 The CVB produced 10,000 rack cards promoting Washtenaw County
spring and summer events. The Chelsea Sounds & Sights is featured
on the front of the card as one of the area’s cornerstone events.
3,000 cards were delivered to Michigan MDOT Welcome Centers.
 The Chelsea Alehouse is included
in the Toast of Ann Arbor
Sweepstakes running April 1 –
June 30. This spring lead
generation campaign features
the numerous craft beverage
producers — both beer and
spirits — in the area. In addition to being
part of the “Make Mine a Double” grand
prize package, an image of a Chelsea
Alehouse pint is featured on the
Thank You page which has been seen by more than 17,000 people!
COMMUNITY TOURISM ACTION PLAN UPDATE
 For the third consecutive year, led by the Chelsea Chamber of
Commerce, the Chelsea Community Tourism Action Plan (CTAP)
Committee applied for and received a community-oriented tourism
marketing and development investment grant from the Washtenaw
County Convention and Visitors Bureau (WCCVB).
 The 2016 leveraged projects include a reprint of historic walking
maps, a new Agri-Tourism page on ChelseaMich.com, and
establishing a wayfinding pathway project from I-94 to the WWI
Centennial Project exhibits in downtown Chelsea for visitors. Overall
project investment totals $22,000 including a 20% proponent match
and $2,400 of in-kind services.
COMMUNITY TOURISM AMBASSADORS
 The Community Tourism Ambassador (CTA) program
continues to thrive, training professionals within Washtenaw
County’s hospitality
industry. There are
currently 15 certified
tourism ambassadors
from the Chelsea
community. The entire
county has nearly 400
certified ambassadors.
