Halloween Costume Party - Lazarex Cancer Foundation

Halloween Costume Party
Once in a while fundraising is just a lot of fun. This was one of those times. Bay Area TECHWorkers of San Ramon
threw a big Halloween party for employees, family and friends at Crow Canyon Country Club in San Ramon.
TECHWorkers CEO and President Don Peed, along with the event co-chairs Patricia Peed and Kelly Neummeister invited
Lazarex Cancer Foundation to participate as the recipient of a Halloween fundraising campaign. Our job was to invite
our supporters to the party and provide the silent auction items. A mutual good friend and fundraiser Steve Hayworth
provided the live auction items and auctioneer services.

We arrived, in costume, to a fully eerie and lavishly creepy Halloween ballroom. The first dance band to play was
Artisan, a band that includes Don Peed and other TECHWorkers staff and friends. Party goers sipped their drinks and
perused the silent auction, nibbled on some great appetizers, checked out the World Series (sorry Phillies fans!) in the
bar and made their way to the dance floor. It didn’t take long for the volume to rise and the party to heat up!
Steve Hayworth coaxed and cajoled the attendees to bid on some amazing items. We auctioned off a fabulous “Day in
Napa” for six with a limo and driver; a week in Paris for two; a Patrick David’s cocktail party for 30, with music, hosted
in Danville; an electric guitar signed by the Eagles. The party continued and a dancing frenzy ensued to the big, bold,
funky sounds of JamFunkShus who closed out the evening.
The benefit to Lazarex Cancer Foundation that evening was $13,000 along with many new friends and supporters. For
the Lazarex staff the evening was a bit of work and a whole lot of fun.
