Overview
North Carolina SmartChoice PPO Plans
– The State Health Plan is a PPO Plan, administered by Blue
Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina
– When choosing a doctor on the PPO plan, you must choose
an in-network physician or specialist to receive maximum
benefits. The State Health Plan uses the BCBS Blue Options
network.
– Out-of-network coverage is reduced by 20% and often
requires additional paperwork.
– With the PPO plan, deductible & co-insurance do not apply
for physician visits, specialist visits, or urgent care center
visits. They only apply when a hospital service is needed.
– Wellness benefits (preventative screenings) are included at
100% coverage, according to a timetable schedule
– There is an unlimited lifetime maximum
Your State Health Plan will begin August 1, 2013 and
requires an on-line enrollment.
– HR will put you in the system today, and you will need to
complete the following steps on or before July 31, 2013 in
order to enroll:

Faculty members are not scheduled to be on campus when
classes are not in session.

All full-time faculty earn 8 hours of sick leave per month

Sick leave is exhausted in multiples of an 8 hour day.

HR will send your generated Employee ID to your supervisor.
Your supervisor will request computer access from IT Services.
If you already work at CFCC part-time, your employee ID will remain the same.
You may obtain your employee ID beginning tomorrow morning at 9:00.
Your ID is made in the LRC on either the North Campus (McKeithan Center) or
Downtown Campus (2nd floor of L-building).
You will need this ID to park in the parking deck.

an orientation evaluation survey. Your opinion is appreciated as we improve

5.10 Professional Development
5.10.4 Tuition-free course
• Full-time CFCC faculty or staff members employed for a term of nine or more
months may request to take one supervisor approved course per semester to
upgrade or improve his or her abilities as it relates to his/her job duties.
• Contact the registrar’s office to register for your free class, do not register
online
• Free class must be a curriculum course or an occupational extension course.
• The employee is responsible for all other course related fees.

5.10.5 Textbooks
• CFCC furnishes textbooks for use by regular full-time employees who enroll in
supervisor approved and job related tuition-free courses at the College.
• Courses are subject to availability of funding and completion of courses.
• Book vouchers must be requested through the President's office. Used books
are to be purchased with CFCC vouchers when available in the CFCC bookstore.
• All textbook packages provided by the College must be returned to the
Presidents office within 5 workday of completion of classes.
