O
n Sunday March 20th the Ashburton Primary School
Community supported another fantastic Grand Fair
and enjoyed all that was on offer. We were so fortunate with
the weather, given the lead up, that a glorious day unfolded.
Bruce, our Fair Mascot, had a busy day. He was at the Grand
Fair opening, on stage with Graham Watt MP. Bruce was
seen out and about taking photos and mingling with the
crowd. Bruce has had a great time being involved with the
Grand Fair and is really looking forward to next year for bigger and better things.
Dunk the Teacher was a great success with a long line of
kids ready to try and hit that target to knock the teacher off.
Thank you to Mrs Bevis, Mr Bent, Jake, Kylie, Miss Egan and
Ueno Sensi for being great sports and volunteering to sit in
the Dunk Machine!
Thank you to Ms Western who organised a wonderful Art
Show featuring all the students works. We hope you found
your work to show off to your family.
We would like to thank the students who supported many
aspects of the fair. The LEGO display had another great response, with over 70 entries. This activity for the students
has built up over the years and is considered a highlight.
Some take many weeks to design, build and craft their
models. A huge thank you to the Stage Performers, participating in the Lunchtime Live acts, Choir and Uke group and
Band performances. Finally to the Grade 6 volunteers who
helped on Fair day – a tradition for the school – your help is
really appreciated by the stall holders.
Thank you to the Ashburton Primary School Teachers and
staff. With your patience and assistance on so many aspects
during the lead up to the fair, then attendance and participation on Fair day, it makes a huge difference to how the
fair runs.
We are supported by some wonderful sponsors, some attended Fair day. We would like to thank them, as without
these generous donations the fair would not be as successful. All details are on the Grand Fair website, and as many are
local businesses, please give them your support if possible.
The Grand Fair is put together by so many dedicated people
– those who have been instrumental in collaborating with
the administration, marketing and organising – and those
that volunteered their time to convene a stall. Without these
wonderful people the fair could not be run so smoothly and
efficiently.

Finally, on behalf of the Fair Committee, we would like to
thank all those that we worked closely with to bring the
school a fabulous Grand Fair and to our families who endured their Mums “missing in action” at times during the
course of the past few months.

Congratulations to all those who contributed to the
LEGO Display - we had over 70 entries! Special thanks to
Kate Walsh who worked tirelessly over the weekend to
set up the display.
Thank you to Lynda from Real Toys in Ashburton who

the assembly on the last day of term.

as it’s a tough gig after a very long day (and it helped
me get home before 10pm!!). Great effort to all as without you the event would not have gone anywhere as
