The Path Forward
This is your personal invitation to an event hosted by Accenture in collaboration with
European Women´s Management Development (EWMD). Gain interesting insights on the
topic of equality between men and women at the workplace.
About 34 percent of men¹ state that women are equal to
men at the workplace. In their opinion, complete gender
equality has been established. In contrast, only about 10
percent of women¹ agree with the statement. Despite
all the changes and progress women have experienced
in their professional lives over the past few decades,
women acknowledge that there is still a long way to
go to achieve equality at the workplace. This is one of
the key findings of Accenture’s global report The Path
Forward, which was released as part of the celebrations
of International Women’s Day 2012.
A number of factors influence equality at the workplace
and determine why it has not been fully achieved yet—
attitudes and prejudices, lack of support for balancing

family life with career and established corporate structures.
However, women are also to be blamed when it comes to
missing out on career opportunities.
How can we change this situation in the future? What are
the major levers and drivers for equality at the workplace?
What can women do to advance their careers? These and
numerous other questions will be addressed and discussed
at our event The Path Forward, jointly hosted by Accenture
and EWMD. Caroline Basyn, Global CIO, Bacardi Limited,
will hold a presentation titled “What does it take to be a
female leader in IT?” and provide insights into the special
challenges of pursuing a career in a mainly male-dominated
work environment.
