Time Management
When is the best time to start making connections? Who should you get to know better? Why
should you even bother with building a network? Many students think networking is only for the
job search and typically don’t consider their network until graduation. But the best time to build
your network is now; before you need it. Come to this session to learn more!
Participants will learn about the Social Change Model of Leadership, including
basics of social change and the role that leaders and followers play in the
process of making changes for the common good.
What issues face the LGBT community as they take on leadership roles within
organizations and in the workplace? This session will introduce all students to this
concept and provide great insight into a growing area of leadership.
Keynote speaker Jason LeVasseur will teach
student leaders how to be “rock star student
leaders.” Participants will also attend two
breakout sessions and learn more about the
policies and procedures that govern SIUE
student organizations.
College is a stressful time for everyone. Learning skills to handle stress in
constructive ways is extremely important and will carry you through life.
Being a strong leader is much more than organizational skills.
Developing your emotional intelligence can take your leadership to the
next level. Come learn more about what emotional intelligence is and
how you can use it to enhance your leadership.
Actions speak louder than words. Learn why your non-verbal
communication is much more believable than what you say and why
sometimes perception is reality.
Sure social media is fun, but do you know how to effectively use it to lead a group? Do you
know the do’s and don’ts of social media as you try to get a job? This session will provide you
with useful tools to successfully navigate the ever changing world of social media.
Join SIUE as we discuss the topic of diversity and leadership in a
safe and inclusive setting. This program will feature three breakout
sessions and participants will have the opportunity select which
sessions they attend.
Are you thinking about pursuing a graduate or professional degree? Do you know what steps
you need to take while completing your undergraduate degree to prepare you for an advanced
education? How do you apply? How are the expectations different in graduate school? Come
to this session to get the answers to these questions and more!
This session introduces participants to the basic positive psychology concept of wellbeing.
Participants will explore career, social, financial, physical, and community wellbeing as related to
motivating others, overcoming challenges, and developing as a leader.
Did you know that the number one complaint from employers who hire recent
college graduates is their lack of soft skills? Find some valuable skills of face to
face interaction that may have been lost in the world of virtual communication
Do you constantly find yourself wishing there were more hours in the day? Join us for an
interactive discussion focused on developing time management strategies for the busy
college student. In this workshop, students will be encouraged to identify their priorities,
assess their current time allocation, and how to achieve balance that leads to success.
