Process of Swim Bladder Control in Bony Fish
When the fish relaxes its muscles,
there is less pressure on the swim
bladder and the swim bladder gets
larger. The gasses inside expand and
the fish rises in the water.
Neutrally buoyant (does not rise or sink)
When the fish tightens its muscles,
there is more pressure on the swim
bladder and the swim bladder gets
smaller. The gasses inside are
compressed and the fish sinks.
Each container has the same number of molecules.
