Mercantile Marine. Died 7th March 1917 aged 41 years.
Nathaniel’s parents were residents of Folkestone. four of Captain English’s
crew perished with him after their 3,223 ton vessel belonging to the Fenay
Steamship Company was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine
approximately 250 miles North West of Fastnet.

Regiment) Canadian Infantry. Died 26th September 1916. Born 14th October
1886 in Folkestone. Enlisted Calgary (Canada). Resided Edmonton, Alberta,
(Canada).
Graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, and was a school teacher at King
Edward School, Edmonton, Alberta prior to enlistment.

memorial at Stanford near Folkestone, their father lived at “Connaught
Lodge,” Westernhanger, Stanford.

Henry is also commemorated on the memorial plaque in the Bonnington (St
Rumwold’s) Church near Ashford.
