This is addendum # 2 issued to Lakehead University Request for Quotation PR14-004 for
the Prettie Health Unit as described in the original solicitation.
Close Date and Time remains at:
Friday February 20th, 2015, at 3:00:00PM EDT.
This addendum is issued to:
1)
Provide an additional copy of the original General Contractor sign-in
sheet which was corrupted in the posted Addenda #1
2)
Provide responses to questions received up to 4:00PM Thursday Feb 11th.
Bidders will note that the Building Permit is to be carried by the General Contractor

GENERAL
1.1
The following information supplements and/or supersedes the bid documents. This
Addendum forms part of the contract documents and is to be read, interpreted, and
coordinated with all other parts. The cost of all contained herein is to be included in
the contract sum. The General Contractor is responsible for distribution of this
Addendum to all subcontractors and suppliers submitting quotations on the work.

Q1:
Door 115A: Is a frame and a fire rating required? Should be a lite in the door?
A1:
Yes, this door will require a frame and a lite and does not require a fire rating.
See attached Sketch AD2-1.
Q2:
Door 167A and door 170: Are frames and/or doors required to reverse swing?
A2:
Door 167A is a new door and will require a frame, see attached Sketch AD21. For door 170 see Addendum 1.
Q3:
What are the specifications required for hold open devices, are they supplied
by electrical?
A3:
The hold open devices are specified in the Electrical section.
Q4:
What’s the meaning of ‘’ER EXIT’’?

Door 115 A and door 171: Are closers required?
A5:
According to the OBC 3.1.8 (11) self closing devices: D 115A and D 171 are
not in a required fire separation and therefore do not require closers.
Q6:
Supply Lockset ‘’yes’’: Does this mean a new Schlage lever is required or do
some of these openings require panics?
A6:
According to the OBC 3.4.4 (16): Door release Hardware is required.
Q7:
Confirm ND-Series Schlage where locksets are required.
A7:
Confirmed.
Q8:
Confirm which functions are required on locksets?
A8:
Functions for locksets will be confirmed at shop drawing phase.
Q9:
Are construction cores required? Specifications say construction cores will be
swapped out by LU with pinned cylinders. Can we not use lockets that have standard
cylinders installed and supply zero cylinders to LU for repining?
A9:
Yes as long as the zero cylinders meet the Keyway.
Q10: For existing locksets that are being repined by LU, who is responsible for
cylinders?
A10: Lakehead University.
Q11: Confirm zero pinned cylinders will use a FG keyway or 1248 keyway. Both are
listed on specifications.

A11: Interior doors: Supplied cylinders to be 1248 type.
Exterior doors: Supplied cylinders to be ‘’T’’ Keyway.
Q12: Elevation 3 on A2-Lite sizes in side lite are too large to be fire rated. 1269
square inches is the maximum. Horizontal or vertical mullion would be needed to be
able to fire rate. This will give a ¾ HR fire rating.
A12: No fire rating is required for the interior glazing.
Q13: Can you confirm which rooms (walls and ceilings) get painted and which
doors and frames (is it just the new or do some existing get painted).
The only painting I could see was note R06- Can you also confirm the extent of this
note, does it just go the corner or is it Hall X116 as well?
A13: Paint walls in corridor 167 and new doors and frames. Painting is also
indicated on note R07. The painting indicated on note R06 does not extend to the
waiting area X116.
Q14: Can you clarify if the Building Permit is carry by General as stated on
summary of work section 01 11 00 page sub.1.1 The General Contractor is
responsible for obtaining the Building Permit, or as add.1 GC 10.2.2 The owner shall
obtain and pay for.
A14: The General Contractor is responsible for obtaining the Building Permit.
