BOARD OF EDUCATION NEWS:
The Smethport Area School District Board of Directors regular board meeting was held
on Monday, September 10, 2012, in the Smethport Area Elementary School.
The following agenda items were approved:
The following additions to the Substitute Teacher’s list for the 2012-13 school year:
Rebecca Confer, Bradford, Library Scienc (pending proper paperwork)
Jamie Keane, Bradford, Business (pending proper paperwork)

The following addition to the Substitute C.L. McKeirnan Bus/Van driver list for the
2012-13 school year:
Perry Tanner, Smethport, Bus
The Substitute I.U.9 Guest Program list for the 2012-13 school year as presented.
Rebecca Betts as the Jr/Sr High School Librarian at Category III Step 1 retroactive to
8/23/2012.
Donna Puller as mentor for the Jr/Sr High School Librarian.
The revised Bullying Policy #249.
Locking in pricing for a portion of the natural gas for the winter months with Vineyard
Oil & Gas of North East, PA at a cost not to exceed $3.20/Dth before the basis fee.
The Letter of Agreement for the Student Assistant Program (SAP) with the Guidance
Center for the 2012-13 school year.
An agreement with Bradford/Olean Family YMCA to provide an After School Child
Care Program for the 2012-13 school year at a building use rate of $400 per month.

Having met all contractual requirements, the following changes will be made on the
salary schedule effective the first teacher pay of the 2012-13 school year:
Warrie Dickinson, Category IV (Masters +15) to Category V (Masters +30)
Nicole Westerburg, Category IV (Masters +15) to Category V (Masters +30)

THE SMETHPORT AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION is
holding a Foundation Scramble at the Smethport Country Club on
Sunday, September 23rd. There will be Men’s, Women’s & Mixed
brackets. Course prizes and dinner will follow golf. Proceeds will benefit
student scholarships &/or teacher venture grants. Anyone interested in
entering a foursome or would like more information, please call Mary Jo

October 29, 2012 - End of First Nine Weeks Marking Period.
November 1, 2012 - Act 80 Day / First Report Card Distributed
via Parent-Teacher Conferences / No School for students.
November 2, 2012 - 1/2 Professional Development Day for
Teachers / No School for students.
November 22nd - 27th, 2012 - Thanksgiving Vacation / Deer Season / No
School.
December 24th - January 1st, 2013 - Christmas Vacation / New Year’s
Vacation / No School.

The deadline for free and reduced lunches to carry over is October
8th. If you qualified for free or reduced lunches last year, a NEW
application MUST be submitted by October 5th to see if you qualify
this year or your child(ren) will roll over to full pay lunches. You will be
responsible for any incurred charges after this date. Please call Toni
Morris, Food Service Director, at 887-5012 Elementary School or 8875545 High School if you have any questions.
Anyone who receives free lunches also receives free breakfast. All Pre-Kindergarten
students receive free breakfasts as well as free lunches.
When arriving to school, please go directly to the cafeteria for breakfast before going to
your classroom.
Also, breakfast and lunch menus are available on-line at www.smethportschools.com,
printed weekly in the Moneysaver, and are announced on local radio stations daily.

IMPORTANT CAFETERIA REMINDER:
➢ No extras or doubles can be purchased unless students have money
in their account.
➢ When a child packs his/her lunch, milk is considered an extra item.
➢ If any student packs their lunch (whether free, reduced, or full pay)
and would like milk, the student is charged $0.40.
➢ Milk is included with any full lunch served from the cafeteria.

HOMECOMING PARADE will be held September 28th at
5:30 p.m. It will start behind the Courthouse and proceed
down Main Street to the school. So wear your orange &
black and come out to support the Smethport Hubbers and
enjoy all the class floats. GO HUBS!!!
