TAVI
GROUPS
There is no need to worry about who
you will be meeting this week! All
incoming students are placed into a
Tavi group, a small group of 10-15
students led by a Team Captain.
These groups are from the same
academic college as you, making it
the perfect opportunity to meet
students who will be in the same
classes as you! If you came to SUU
with a lot of friends from high
school, or are coming to SUU
without knowing anyone, your Tavi
group will become some of your
closest friends!
What does Tavi mean?
‘Tavi,’ an ancient Aztec word, means ‘the sun.’ It represents a
‘bursting flame of brilliant energy to guide the many ways we go.’
SUU used Tavi as the name of its yearbook for several decades. It
symbolizes that SUU is alive with light and brilliant students, faculty
and staff who make this institution a ball of energy that will live in
memories for the eternities. As students at SUU, you are Tavi! Bring
your energy, your light, and your many talents to guide each other
along this journey. Be that bursting flame of brilliant energy!
Be sure to look for the Tavi icon near events listed in this
guidebook. This icon indicates a Tavi group meet up or the
opportunity for your Tavi to earn points. Below, you will find your
meeting place and information for your Tavi group.
