Wedding Bells!!! – My daughter is getting married at my farm on September 28th. Her fiancée is
from Vermont so we will have many out of town guests. I will be taking off Sept. 25, 26, 27 and
30th. My substitute is a veteran teacher and is well prepared to step in for me on these days.
Please know that I will probably not be able to reply to messages during this time. I regret having
to leave the classroom for four days but find it necessary. Thank you in advance for understanding.
Science: We have just started chapter 5 in Science which covers Earth’s land, air and water. We
will study Earth’s natural resources and ways we can take conserve and take care of Earth’s natural
resources.
Spelling: In spelling we will work with long vowel sounds ae, ee, ie, oe and ue.
Writing: We will continue to work on a 5 sentence paragraph using an opening sentence, 3 detail
sentences and a closing sentence. Students should be able to write a 5 sentence paragraph on their
own.
Math: We have started chapter 2 which covers skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. This chapter focuses
on the use of repeated addition with arrays (ex. 4+4+4+4 or 3+3+3+3) We will also review even and
odd numbers. This all doesn’t sound too difficult however the new math book stretches kids to
thing and be problem solvers.
Reading: Our story this week is called The Strongest One and is written in the form of a play. We
will work on facts and details; synonym; imperative, exclamatory, declarative and interrogative
sentences.

3:30-4:00) were sent home with the Friday folders. Students must wear long sleeve pants, tennis
shoes or boots to attend. Students must be picked up at 4:00 p.m. Return permission slips by Wed.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
