Tuesday – Write your two dictation sentences 3 times each and create your own sentence and write it 3 times. Your sentence must contain a spelling word and be at least 5 words in length. Wednesday – Study for tomorrow’s spelling test. Thursday – No Homework. Friday – NO SCHOOL – teacher professional development day. Wedding Bells!!! – My daughter is getting married at my farm on September 28th. Her fiancée is from Vermont so we will have many out of town guests. I will be taking off Sept. 25, 26, 27 and 30th. My substitute is a veteran teacher and is well prepared to step in for me on these days. Please know that I will probably not be able to reply to messages during this time. I regret having to leave the classroom for four days but find it necessary. Thank you in advance for understanding. Science: We have just started chapter 5 in Science which covers Earth’s land, air and water. We will study Earth’s natural resources and ways we can take conserve and take care of Earth’s natural resources. Spelling: In spelling we will work with long vowel sounds ae, ee, ie, oe and ue. Writing: We will continue to work on a 5 sentence paragraph using an opening sentence, 3 detail sentences and a closing sentence. Students should be able to write a 5 sentence paragraph on their own. Math: We have started chapter 2 which covers skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. This chapter focuses on the use of repeated addition with arrays (ex. 4+4+4+4 or 3+3+3+3) We will also review even and odd numbers. This all doesn’t sound too difficult however the new math book stretches kids to thing and be problem solvers. Reading: Our story this week is called The Strongest One and is written in the form of a play. We will work on facts and details; synonym; imperative, exclamatory, declarative and interrogative sentences. Outdoor Kids: Permission slips for the first Outdoor Kids (to be this Wednesday, Sept. 18th from 3:30-4:00) were sent home with the Friday folders.
