Directors Gregg & Lois Cunningham Center for Bio-Ethical Reform A presidential candidate recently argued that aborting mothers should be punished as criminals. Pro-abortion students sometimes falsely accuse our Genocide Awareness Project signs of calling aborting mothers Nazis. The politician is wrong and so are the students. Aborting mothers are lied to by teachers, journalists, entertainers, politicians, even pastors –pretty much the whole culture. They are coerced by parents, boyfriends, husbands and “friends.” They all know abortion is wrong, but few know how wrong. They will pay a terrible price for their abortions and in that sense they are abortion’s second victim. Their level of understanding does not rise to the level required for criminal liability (and even if it did, police wouldn’t arrest, prosecutors wouldn’t charge, juries wouldn’t convict, and judges wouldn’t punish), and they certainly aren’t Nazis. Not so with abortionists. They know exactly what they are doing and they are motivated by politics and greed. It is they who should be in prison and condemned as genocidal murderers. This new CBR Genocide Awareness Project sign addresses this important concern. May 2016 Killing the Abortion Pill D id you know that a baby can be saved even after the mother takes the first abortion pill? Many women quickly change their minds and want to stop the killing process, but the abortionists tell them it’s not possible. Dr. George Delgado developed a protocol for pro-life doctors to follow, and many babies have been saved through this rapid intervention. “Abortion Pill Reversal” principles teach: • Mifepristone does not significantly increase the chances of birth defects. Reversing a mifepristone medical abortion is within reasonable medical practice. • Progesterone can reverse the effects of mifepristone and has been safely used in pregnancy for over 40 years. Ask your local pro-life doctors if they know about this lifesaving protocol and refer them to: http://abortionpillreversal.com Page 2 CENTER FOR BIO-ETHICAL REFORM May 2016 Abolishing Abortion O ur organization is blessed to have gifted, faithful and wise members on our Center for Bio-Ethical Reform Board of Directors. Two of our board members are ordained ministers who also lead other important pro-life groups. Father Frank Pavone is on our board and he is also the National Director of Priests for Life. We have worked with Fr. Frank for more than 20 years, and we consider him one of the most committed, humble and strategic pro-life leaders in America. The Priests for Life website http://www.priestsforlife.org/ is filled with helpful information for people of all faiths. His new book, Abolishing Abortion, is a valuable resource for new and seasoned pro-lifers. In it, Fr. Frank utilizes Scripture to lay out a plan for abolishing abortion. We are pleased to reprint several excerpts here: In the Public Square - Chapter 1 We cannot escape risk in this battle. Nor can we fit the battle into our lifestyle. We must fit our lifestyle to the battle and interrupt our patterns of convenience and comfort as need be. The champions of abortion do not rest. Neither can we. The battle to defend the children in the womb -- that one segment of humanity whose rights are most cruelly denied -- is a battle for humanity itself. And it is worth everything. (Page 7) Time for Repentance - Chapter 3 We begin our repentance by renouncing our cowardice, by regretting our silence, by rejecting our fear of risk and loss, our skewed priorities and attachments. Indeed, the fight against abortion does not start in the political arena or in the abortion clinics. … The biggest obstacles are inside of us. They are the lies we tell ourselves, the fears to which we willingly submit, and the pretense of ignorance about what we really have to do next. (Page 35) *** Fortunately, the blood of another innocent victim shows us the way. Jesus’ blood “speaks more graciously than the blood of Abel” we learn in Hebrews 2:24. Let us repent of abortion, wash ourselves in Jesus’ blood, and get to work defending the innocent. (Page 42) A Foundation of Love - Chapter 11 Abortion is the exact opposite of love. Love says, “I sacrifice myself for the good of the other person.” Abortion says, “I sacrifice the other person for the good of myself.” (Page 139) North Carolina State University Students for Life President Aubrey Griffin (at right) deftly engaged students at our Genocide Awareness Project. Stellar Student Leader Brings GAP back to North Carolina State L eadership is key, as evidenced by Aubrey Griffin, President of the North Carolina State University Students for Life (NCSU SFL). When Miss Griffin saw how effective GAP was at NCSU in 2014, she decided to invite our GAP team to return. CBR-Southeast Director Fletcher Armstrong led the GAP team that included CBR-Virginia Project Directors Jacqueline Hawkins and Maggie Eggers, CBR-Southeast staffer Jane Bullington, CBR-Georgia Project Director- Lincoln Brandenburg, and CBR-Carolinas Project Directors Bill and Jeanette Shultz. Experienced volunteers Lauren Handy and Debbie Picarello were also on hand. On November 9-10, 2015, the GAP display went up and thus began two days of debate and intellectual discussions. A proabortion protest group appeared, but according to Miss Hawkins: “They seemed rather halfhearted about the whole thing. Their presence, although perfunctory, brought even more attention to the pictures.” CBR provides a Pro-Life Training Academy that equips students to be more confident in defending the pro-life position and in addressing questions from their peers. This steady presence on campus makes abortion hard to trivialize or ignore, which leads to more babies saved. On April 21, 2016, she spoke with a group of four students who denied all the facts she presented related to science and medicine (photo, right). Only one of them would accept CBR literature. Yet, the significant thing is that they all saw the CBR abortion photo signs and the images went home in their minds. We trust God will work on their consciences. Ruby Nicdao spoke with another student who, after 15 minutes, finally accepted that his belief that human life begins when the child is “sentient” was similar to Nazi and slave owners’ arbitrary criteria for deciding who could be killed (photo, right middle). The abortion photos provoke much more discussion than would a table offering pro-life literature or polling students on their opinions on abortion. That is because abortion photos provide incontrovertible evidence that abortion is an act of violence. While Ms. Nicdao is working on the GMU campus, she wears a GoPro camera for security purposes. The bottom right photo, taken on April 14, 2016, shows that many students happily receive our “How Can You Compare Abortion to Genocide?” brochure. Nothing could be further from the truth; the anger shows that the person is under conviction. Social reformers must always educate people who do not want to be bothered, and we must be willing to take the persecution that comes. Christ and the apostles modeled ministry that proclaims the truth in the public square; the Scriptures teach us that they upset people everywhere they went, and the world was forever changed. Our approach must always be Christ-like, proclaiming the truth in love to people who desperately need it. NON-PROFIT ORG.
