Greetings, My name is KeShawn Manns and I have recently been assigned to represent Sector 412 as your lieutenant. My excitement is very high and I'm truly looking forward to working with each of you in an effort to keep your communities safe! Let me take a moment to share some information with you about my career with the Richmond Police Department. In 1998, I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and in 2003 I joined the Richmond Police Department. Since joining the department, I’ve been assigned to patrol as a patrolman, Personnel as a background investigator, and the Internal Affairs Division as a detective. In 2009, I was promoted to the rank of sergeant. During my tenure as sergeant, I served as a patrol and Crowd Management Team supervisor. In addition, for the past 3½ years, I served as the supervisor of the Second Precinct Focus Mission Tactical Team (FMT). Enough about me, I would like to take a moment to share my thoughts about my goals and priorities coming into my new role as the 412 sector lieutenant. Customer focus is one of my top priorities and I will hold myself and my officers accountable in our policing efforts. In addition, I will make sure we continue to represent the Richmond Police Department and your communities in a professional manner with the utmost integrity. It is extremely important for us to continue to build upon the shared trust that our Department and your respective communities have established throughout the years. One of my goals is to ensure Sector 412 continues to be innovative in our policing methods! It is also important that we continue to focus on Chief Durham’s 100 Day Plan that was implemented on Feb. 21 of this year and is scheduled to run until May 31. “The Plan” was explained in great detail during the Department’s town hall-style meetings last month. If you missed the meetings, Chief Durham covered five important categories: Customer Care, RPD Morale, Safeguarding the Community, Youth Engagement, and Technology. He also emphasized the importance of police visibility and police engagement. All of these areas of focus are important for us to continue following so we can continue to enjoy the success this sector has experienced in the past. Since the last newsletter, Sector 412 has had 31 violent crimes compared to 29 during this same time period last year when the sector won the Crime Reduction Award. In addition, we had 306 property crimes reported compared to 308 this time last year. The sector’s grand total for all “Major Crimes” has remained at 0% with no change. These impressive numbers are a direct result of the hard work the men and women assigned to Sector 412 and our community partners continue to deliver! Again, I'm very excited to have been chosen to represent your neighborhoods and I look forward to working with you now and in the future.
