Fondazione Terre des hommes Italia (Tdh- It) is an international non-governmental organisation
which aims at addressing the causes of distress and poverty, encouraging self-help and self-development at
the same time. Its mission is to defend the rights of the children and to promote sustainable and equitable
development without political, racial, religious, cultural or gender-based discrimination. To this end, Tdh-It
in Myanmar promotes and supports development projects designed to improve the livelihood of
disadvantaged children, their families and their communities.
Tdh-It is seeking applications from national qualified, efficient, motivated and experienced individuals for the
following position:
3 Agriculture Technicians – Magway Region
Tdh-It is implementing an integrated programme in Magway, Mandalay and Yangon Regions, comprising
Food Security, Livelihoods, Nutrition, WASH, Education and Child Protection Activities. This position is
required in the framework of an AICS (Italian Development Cooperation Agency) funded project which
aims at strengthening rural communities resilience for climate change adaptation through the improvement
of the nutritional status and the agricultural production of local rural population and the enhancement of
the natural resources management skills of communities and Institutions.
As Agriculture Technicians, your will be based in Magway Region and work mainly in Magway or Natmauk
Townships, plus, if required, occasional short missions in other areas of Myanmar. You will work under the
supervision of the office Agronomist, Veterinary, Area Coordinator (AC) and Project Manager.
Duties
-
Ensure implementation of activities defined by the Agronomist, Veterinary, AC and the Project
Manager;
Deliver training and technical assistance on all agriculture activities of the project, under the
supervision of the Agronomist and the Veterinary; make sure the trainings are delivered in a contexet
appropriate way;
Guarantee the technical quality of agriculture activities in the villages you are responsible for;
Regularly take note of problems and constraints observed in the field and discuss how to solve them
with the rest of the staff and under supervision of the Agronomist, Veterinary and the AC
Contribute to the evaluation of agriculture activities and, under the supervision of the Agronomist and
the Veterinary contribute to improve them whenever possible, also by conducting research and selfstudy;
Train, assist and follow up beneficiaries in establishing and strengthening of community based
organizations;
Participate in planning of agriculture activities, in coordination and under the guidance of the
Agronomist, Veterinary and the AC;
Contribute to the development of manuals, booklets, leaflets, training topics and materials, if required;
Ensure follow-up of the project’s progress and write short reports whenever required;
Contribute to project Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEAL) as required by and under
supervision of the AC and M&E Sector Coordinator;
Keep good and close relations with the Local Authorities and project beneficiaries;
Perform other duties as requested by the Area Coordinator, the Project Manager and Tdh-It Head
Office.

Requirements
-
Bachelor degree in Agriculture or Diploma in Agriculture;
Minimum 1 years of working experience in agriculture related field;
Experience in horticulture and/or small livestock will be considered an asset;
Previous experience in NGO/INGO will be highly evaluated;
Expeeience in adults training and/or facilitation;
Fluency in written and spoken English and Myanmar;
Able to work as an active member of a team and individually;
Good organizational qualities and able to build good relations with communities and co-workers;
Experience in livelihood and/or nutrition projects will be higlhly evaluated;
Experience in working in the Myanmar Central Dry Zone will be an asset;
Excellent communication and Reporting skills;
Fully computer literate in MS Office package;
Ability and will to work in the field.
Available to sleep in the villages, if required.
Ability to visit the remote area by motorbike, also during rainy season ( he/she must have a motorbike
driving licence or will have to obtain it if recruited );
Commitment to work for the improvement of living conditions of the rural population of Myanmar.
Share the values and mission of Tdh-It and the Convention on the Rights of the child;
Duty Station:
Magway Region, with possibility of short period movement in other
areas.

Salary:
Salary according to experience and qualifications.
Contract duration:
One year with possible extension
