November 2016 Appeal
Dear Friends of The Sandy Hook Foundation,
The 2016 spring and summer seasons saw record numbers of visitors taking advantage
of Sandy Hook’s beaches, multi-use-path (MUP), lighthouse tower tours, concert series, and campgrounds. Visitors were most appreciative of your generosity as they used
the bicycle repair stations (now numbering 5 along the MUP), cooked on newly replaced
grills in the Guardian Park area and stood on the completely replaced observation deck
over-looking New York Harbor.
This year we are again asking for your support as we continue to enrich the National
Park Service (NPS) programs and sites at Sandy Hook. The observation deck area
needs landscaping; we must use specific native, maintenance-free plants and grasses.
Further, we will install exhibits describing the birds and fauna the school children, families
and bird-watchers view and enjoy.
We ask you to support your park with visitation, volunteerism, and philanthropy. The
enclosed photographs will give you a view of some of the free outdoor programs, family
activities, and educational, fun tours offered within the park.
