In 1888, 24-year-old William Henry Belk opened his first store
with a vision, a passion and a commitment. It worked.
More than 300 stores later, our commitment to our customers, our
communities, and fashion is stronger than ever. Much of
that credit can be given to Belk’s third generation of leadership:
Tim Belk, Chairman & CEO, and Johnny Belk, President & COO.
And that’s why we are celebrating 125 years and growing!

TODAY’S MUST-HAVE FASHION

showcase competition
Belk created a buzz in the fashion world by seeking Southern designer
talent and launching the inaugural Southern Designer Showcase
competition in 2012. Belk hand selected 15 winners from 170 entrants.
Each winners’ designs will be sold at Belk stores and on belk.com
beginning Spring 2013 and will be featured in Belk’s 125th Anniversary
advertising campaign.
As the leading Southern retailer, Belk is always looking for new Southern
designers. Belk’s merchants search the Southeast for talent through local
merchandise market centers, university contacts and regionally held
fashion events.
“We are thrilled to be able to introduce new brands that represent the
talented South and the modern, Southern style Belk delivers every day,”
said Arlene Goldstein, vice president of trend merchandising and fashion
direction for Belk.
