A
Rim Adapter - modified vehicle wheel to which the
Wheel Torque Transducer is mounted.*
B
Hub Adapter - fabricated adapter that mounts to the
Wheel Torque Transducer and bolts to the production
vehicle wheel hub.*
C
Collet Lug - Quick connect collet lug nut extension,
mounts to standard lug nuts.
F
D
Wheel Torque Transducer - Measures drive and
braking torque at vehicle corner.*

Wheel Instrumentation Package (WIP) - combination
of a precision strain gage and two precision
thermocouple amplifiers built into a low profile, rugged
housing. When used with a Michigan Scientific slip ring
the package is weatherproof. The amplifier is located
close to the sensor, reducing errors due to long lead
wires, connector resistance variations, and electromagnetic interference. The WIP mounts to a variety of
wheel lug bolt patterns.
Slip Ring Assembly - Completes electrical connection
between rotating and stationary components. Also
measures rotational velocity and angular position.
Optional Telemetry Data Transmission Electronics Battery operated telemetry transmits signals wirelessly
to receivers located inside vehicle. Rotational velocity
and angular position are not available. Telemetry is the
lowest profile data transmission arrangement.
* When assembled, components A, B & D can be balanced as a normal production assembly.
Vehicle tire is orientated on production center line through design of bolted assembly

Michigan Scientific Wheel Torque Transducers are highly sensitive torque transducers used to measure drive and braking
torque on vehicles ranging from ATV to large Agricultural & Construction Equipment . The transducers are attached to
adapters that duplicate the critical dimensions of the original rim and hub of the vehicle. They can be used under normal
driving conditions, due to the high strength material and weatherproof sealing.
The Wheel Torque Transducer with telemetry is the lowest profile
data transmission arrangement.
