March 4 and 5, 2015
Literature – To Kill a Mockingbird
 Students took a quiz on chapters 4-6 of To Kill a Mockingbird
 Read chapters 7-9 for next time.
 Students received two quotations from the beginning of the novel. For each one, students are to explain what it
means and write a brief response to it.
 We discussed the quotations when finished.
 Describe the following characters SO FAR in the novel (character, not looks): Atticus, Scout, Jem.
o Use quotations to support your descriptions.
o This may be done individually or in small groups (up to 4 people)
o We discussed this and then turned it in.
Logical Fallacies
 We discussed logical fallacies (flaws in logic).
 We then watched a video introducing five logical fallacies: Red Herring, Ad Hominem, Post Hoc Ergo Propter
Hoc, Ad Misericordiam, Bandwagon.

 Students took notes, and we discussed the flaws.
 For next time, students should find examples (t.v., magazines, news articles…) of at least four of the fallacies.
o Either bring in the examples, or write down a description of each.
o Say which fallacy it is and how it fits the definition of that flaw in logic.
Language Practice
 Students did a practice language assessment. (Pickles)
 We went over it when finished.
Students had the rest of the period to read To Kill a Mockingbird.
