Describe characteristics of cumulus, stratus, and cirrus clouds

particular lesson fits):
We will be learning about charting weather, weather traits, and things of
that sort. We will then learn the difference in each cloud.
Time (is this a 1 day 50 minute lesson, 5 day 1 hour lesson, once a week over a
month lesson….):
3 day lesson at 50 minutes a lesson
What do the students already know? (This could be the Intro or they have learned
information before starting this lesson):
The students would have a background of weather (storms, rain, etc) and
they would learn also about charting weather and things like that
Objective (What are the students’ going to accomplish):
The students will be able to describe the characteristics of cumulus, cirrus,
and stratus clouds.
Materials:
“cotton ball” displays for each day for each different cloud
Procedure:
The students will come to the carpet and they will all look at the “cotton
ball” displays. The students will then look at the web created that highlights
the certain cloud for that day. The students will learn about a cloud a day
and get to look at pictures of each cloud online.
Assessment (How will the students’ show you that the objective has been met):
The students will be quizzed on each cloud where they would have to
match the certain characteristic to what cloud it represents.
A Brief Description Of The Entire Lesson - Plus Any Additional Information to be
Included:
Each day the students will come in and look at the display of the cloud of
the day. Then as a class we will go through the web I created to learn
about each cloud. The students will also get to look at pictures of the
clouds. At the end of the week the students will be quizzed on the clouds
and their characteristics.
