Problem A 1. Graph and label the points A (-6, 3) B (

Problem A
1. Graph and label the points A (-6, 3) B (-2, 1) C ( 4, -5)
2. Find the ordered pairs for A’B’C’ if the preimage is reflected over y=x.
List the ordered pairs and graph the image.
3. Calculate the lengths of all of the corresponding sides. Label all work and show calculations. Label all lengths
on your graph.
4. Using a protractor, find the measure of angles A, B, C and angles A’, B’ C’. Write them down on your paper and
label them on the graph.
5. Based on your answers for part 3 and 4, do you think the preimage and the image are congruent? Why or why
not, explain. Include the definition of congruent figures in your explanation.
Problem B
1. Graph the points A (-6, 3) B (-2, 1) C ( 4, -5)
2. Find the ordered pairs A”B”C” if the preimage is rotated 180̊ ° counterclockwise flowed by the translation
〈2, − 4〉 . List the ordered pairs and graph the image.
3. Calculate the lengths of all of the corresponding sides. Label all work and show calculations. Label all lengths
on your graph.
4. Using a protractor, find the measure of angles A, B, C and angles A”, B”, C”. Write them down on your paper
and label them on the graph.
5. Based on your answers for part 3 and 4, do you think the transformation given is an example of an isometry?
Explain why or why not. Include the definition of isometry in your explanation.
Problem C
1. For your preimage use the points A (6, 3) B (1, 1) C ( 4, -1)
Find the image if the preimage is translate by the vector 〈4, − 3〉 followed by a
counterclockwise rotation of 90 . List the ordered pairs as A”B”C”.
2. Use the same preimage. A (6, 3) B (1, 1) C ( 4, -1)
This time, find the image if the preimage is counterclockwise rotation of 90 followed by a translation by the
vector 〈4, − 3〉 . List the ordered pairs as A”B”C”.
3. Compare your answers from #1 and #2 part c. Do you think that the order matters when you are performing a
composition? Explain why or why not.
DIRECTIONS: Neatly graph both the preimage and image on each problem where a graph is required. The preimage
should be shown in blue and the image shown in a color other than blue.
Label your axes and the points. You will need to show all calculations. Please label all calculations, for example: Graph 1.
Part 3: Length of AB= (show work)
Use complete sentences anywhere you are answering a question.
