FOSTERING OF A PUPPY FOR BREEDING Our highest goals with the breeding of a Leavitt bulldog is to ensure the continuance and the improvement of this breed in such a way that we always and forever maintain the guidelines which have been laid down by David Leavitt. These will continue to be refined with small adjustments. To secure the future breeding without any compromises there is always a need for more dogs than we could expect to find in a family home. Therefore once in a while we seek good families to foster the best of our best puppies. It is a great responsibility to invite a dog i to o e’s life it is also important for a foster dog that you give careful consideration to what is required before you decide to become a foster host for one of our Leavitt bulldogs. Remember that since the creation of the dog in 1971 until today, statistics show that a dog lives an average of o er 11 years. The agreement is for fostering a puppy from http://leavittbulldog.dk as foster host agreeing to the foster/caretaking of a bitch/dog. The breeder remains owner of the dog up until the time that ownership is transferred to the foster host which is set at no later than ____________________ , even if the breeder up to this point in time has not exploited his rights according to the agreed terms in this document. Food costs, mandatory vaccinations, x-rays for breeding regulations are to be paid for by: Breeder. Any health costs and health insurance cover is to be paid for by: Foster host. Veterinary costs not covered by health insurance are to be paid for by: Foster host. Any expenses for life insurance is to be paid for by: Foster host. Please note that it is the caretaker of the dog, in this case the foster host, who is required to secure statutory liability insurance. And for further information we recommend reading regarding breeding standards http://leavittbulldog.dk/en/leavitt-breeding-standards/ Additional terms regarding the foster of a bitch/bitch puppy: The breeder has a right to birth a maximum of three litters with at least one living puppy per litter. All expenses incurred by the breeder in the course of breeding and upholding breeding regulations (e.g. mating, transport, food, vet costs, devices for birthing and puppy delivery and registration) is to be paid for by the breeder. The ownership of the dog is transferred without any financial exchange to the foster host when the terms for fostering is fulfilled at the latest date for the above agreed transfer date to the foster host. The breeder is required to sign the declaration of ownership, registration certificate for the Danish dog register and submit the pedigree. The breeder undertakes to let the bitch remain with the foster host for the foster duration with the exception of periods mentioned in points 4 and 7 below. The breeder may terminate this agreement and request the return of the bitch without any compensation if it is found that the foster host is in breach of this agreement. The breeder is not obligated to forfeit his rights according to the agreement to other parties other than the foster host. The breeder retains the right to retrieve the bitch for the purpose of mating for a maximum period of two weeks and for a period of three weeks prior to giving birth and up until 10 weeks after giving birth. The breeder must inform the foster host in good time of the plan to mate a bitch. The foster host must agree to care for the bitch in such a way that the breeder can fulfill his rights under this agreement. The foster host is obligated to keep the bitch available should the breeder intend to use her for breeding and should the agreement stipulate, keep the bitch available for exhibiting, tests and competitions. The foster host is obligated to inform the breeder immediately upon the bitch coming into season. Should a foster host ate the it h ithout the reeder’s per issio , the breeder is entitled to cancel the contract and demand the return of the bitch without compensation. If the foster host is re-locating, incurring additional transport expenses for the breeder, the foster host is required to compensate the breeder for these extra expenses. If not, the breeder has a right to cancel the agreement and vice versa. If the foster host cannot keep the bitch, the breeder is obliged to retrieve it. Neither party will receive compensation. The foster host cannot transfer the foster host agreement to a third party.
