24.5 hours per week, working on an academic timetable. Included in these stated
hours: monthly team meetings, eleven team days, and two training days before the
start of the autumn academic term
£14,523 (FTE £22,229) on an academic contract
The role of the Magna Carta School Relational Support Worker (RSW) is to lead on the delivery of east to
west’s work in the school. The RSW delivers and facilitates Relational Support to young people referred to
them through the school according to and through the east to west Outcomes Framework.
Your overall goal is to enable young people to experience Hope “journeying with Children, Young People and
Families through the issues that they are addressing in their lives.” You will work intensively with young
people in 1:1 and Support Group settings and provide effective leadership to other team members and
volunteers as appropriate when they engage in the school. Your measures of success will be agreed annually
with the school and will focus on enabling young people to maximise their life chances through education,
supporting young people through or providing coping mechanisms for the situations that they are
encountering. The RSW will work in partnership with the school, external partners and the east to west wider
team for the betterment of the school community
General Responsibilities:
 To provide Relational Support and social development for young people at the Magna Carta School
 To be a member of the east to west team and to work within its ethos and guidelines
 To promote and support the local church in its engagement with the life of the School
 To promote citizenship and community through extra-curricular activities
Specific Responsibilities:
 Relationally Support young people who are either referred via the school or (exceptionally) self- refer;
in both 1:1 and Support Group settings, within agreed caseload limits
 Effectively support and work within the pastoral systems of the school
 Encourage, and where appropriate, facilitate the work of external organisations affiliated to east to
west working in the school
Promote volunteering within the local church and community and engage them effectively in the life of
the school
 Sourcing volunteering opportunities within the school
 Providing opportunity and guidance to the volunteers in their Relational Support Work
To be a member of the east to west team and to work within its guidelines
 To be embody and engage fully with the mission and ethos of the east to west Trust
 To work within the guidelines of the east to west Trust
 To attend east to west Cluster meetings & Development Days
DEVELOPMENT OF ROLE:
 Through supporting and liaising with all partners
 To obtain ongoing training and development both personally and for the role
OBJECTIVE SETTING AND REPORTING
 Annual targets will be set and monitored / amended in response to current needs on a termly basis
through east to west’s appraisal process in partnership with the school
 Statistical information will be supplied to east to west on a weekly basis in accordance with measures
in force at the time
 Regular progress and delivery reports to east to west and school
