CARL HUMPHREY NAMED WARDEN AT
SPALDING COUNTY CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTE
Spalding County Manager William P. Wilson Jr. announces the appointment of Carl
Humphrey as the Warden for the Spalding County Correctional Institute effective January
2, 2015. Mr. Humphrey was appointed to the position vacated by the retirement of Warden
Jimmy Sikes. The appointment concludes a search that identified several competitive and
qualified candidates.
Mr. Humphrey comes to this position with thirty years of experience with the Georgia
Department of Corrections. Mr. Humphrey has held the position of Warden at several
facilities within the state of Georgia since 1999. In his most recent position of Field
Operations Manager for the North Area, Mr. Humphrey was responsible for the oversight
of daily operations for 23 facilities and served as the supervisor to the 23 Wardens until his
retirement in 2014.
Mr. Humphrey received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas
University in Thomasville, Georgia where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received
his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Digital Electronics. Mr. Humphrey also is a
Certified POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training Council) Instructor and Firearms
Instructor.
Mr. Wilson stated that “Mr. Humphrey has a vast array of experience and management
skills that will be of great benefit to the Spalding County Correctional Institute and will be
a great addition to the Spalding County Management Team”.
