Direct Admit Process
Description: The physician will notify bed management when admitting a patient directly from a
physician’s office or outlying hospital.
a. Physician (or office) will notify bed management of need to admit
b. Bed management will pre-register patient in Soarian and obtain a telephone order from the
physician for patient status. Patient’s MRN/encounter number will be available once the patient
is registered. (Note: the MRN/encounter will be available after 30 minutes of notification to
admit).
c. Once MRN available, physician will be able to enter pre-orders on patient.
d. If option to enter orders electronically is not available, the physician may fax written orders to
bed management (orders should not be faxed to the floor). Bed Management will send the
written orders to the appropriate floor. Written orders must be on Missouri Baptist Physician’s
Directions form.
e. The US or RN on the unit will enter written orders into HEO once the patient is admitted.
