NATIONAL CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS SPORT (NCSS)
HISTORY
For the past 15 years students from Christian Schools across Australia have come together to compete
in the National Christian Schools Sports Championships in Swimming & Basketball. In 2011, Soccer
was introduced and in 2013 the vision of the NCSS Games were realised with 950 competitors and
officials from 5 states contesting Athletics, Basketball, Soccer and Swimming throughout one week on
the Gold Coast. Tennis was added for the 2015 NCSS Games on the Gold Coast.
VISION
Our vision has been to hold a high quality sporting carnival that would honour God and that would
recognize excellence in student sporting endeavour.
Our priority has also been to talk to the students about their relationship with Jesus and to challenge
their priorities in life so that they bring glory & honour to God in whatever they do.
Students from Victorian CSSN schools will have the opportunity to trial for these teams leading up to
the 2017 Games, to be held in Perth from Sunday 14th May – Friday 20th May, 2017.
CURRENT SPORTS
Currently, the following sports are contested at NCSS level:
Basketball (Under 15 Girls, Under 15 Boys, Under 21 Girls, Under 21 Boys)
Netball (Under 15 Girls, Under 21 Girls)
Soccer (Under 21 Girls, Under 21 Boys)
Tennis (Under 21 Girls, Under 21 Boys)
Volleyball (Under 21 Girls, Under 21 Boys)
SELECTION INFORMATION
Information regarding selection is available on the CSSN website in the year preceding the competition
throughout Term 3. This information is also emailed to all eligible schools. Trials for sports are
compulsory and take place in Term 3 and 4 of the year prior to the NCSS.
