SPRING TERM 2017 Issue 3 - Friday 17th February 2017 Message from the Headteacher Thank you to families who returned questionnaires to school over the last few weeks. We will look at these closely over the half term holiday, make an analysis and report the feedback to you in our next newsletter. The end of this half term signifies that we are half way through the school year - we will be challenging our children as to what they have achieved in this time. A reminder that our Consultation Evenings are on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd March, where we can discuss with you the levels of progress you children are currently making. I hope you have been able to share a conversation with your children this week around the subject of ‘e’ safety. We have taken part in workshops and assemblies from the NSPCC as part of ‘e’ safety week. Their messages to our children were clear as to the dangers of using social media and who might then be able to access this information. The message from the NSPCC to parents was to be sure you know what your children share, ensure appropriate filters are in place or better still discourage any such use until the children reach an appropriate age. I hope you enjoy a lovely half term holiday with your family. Kevin Grayson Support for Mrs Mitchell We would like to share with families the news that during half term Mrs Mitchell will be competing in the Tokyo Marathon. This will be her 63rd marathon and completing it will mean that Mrs Mitchell will become a Six Star Finisher, having completed all the other World Marathon Majors, including London and New York. Through this Marathon, Mrs Mitchell is raising money for St. John Ambulance Service who helped her with an injury during a previous race which meant she was able to finish! We are all extremely proud of Mrs Mitchell! If you would like to sponsor her then please visit Just Giving, using the address below: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Gill-Mitchell2 In talking of donations to worthy causes, Marie Curie daffodil pins will be on sale around school when we return from out holiday - a suggested donation for these would be £1.00 What’s Coming Up…. Further changes in terms of classroom support - Miss Rowley will move to work in year 1, while Miss Bateman will step in to support Year 2 for the remainder of the term. Parking! Despite many requests families continue to park directly in front of the barrier at the front of school. Should you choose to do this we will now pass on your vehicle details to the police. Term Dates Survey School term dates are currently being reviewed and the Local Authority would like to hear views of parents. West Midlands Local Authorities have agreed to propose a joint change to the current format. This change would mean that throughout the West Midlands, the summer holiday would reduce to five weeks, with the extra week forming a two week autumn half term break. A survey can be accessed by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ FKXH2LQ or alternatively there is a link on our school website. The closing date for this survey is 5th March 2017.
