Spanish TA Syllabus 2011 * Señora Leeman * Room 313

 * Spanish TA Syllabus 2011 * Señora Leeman * Room 313* ¡Gracias por ayudarme! I am very excited about having TAs this year. Last year I had a very positive experience with my TA. I look forward to working with you and am excited about putting you to work so that I can spend less time doing my job outside of school hours ☺. Expectations: I expect that you will set an example for the other students in the class that you are TAing for on how to follow the rules in the classroom. Therefore, much like the other students I will expect you to come to my classroom ready to work: with a positive attitude, having been to the bathroom etc, & bring homework in case you get done early. Materials: positive outlook & something to work on (for the rare occasions that you finish helping early) COURSEWORK : You’re gonna be workin!!! I believe that TAs can benefit greatly from teaching others, tasks that require mature responsibility, and deeper inquiry into the Spanish language. Activities: I will ask you to engage in the following activities… Assisting students: with homework, explaining lessons, checking answers etc. In order to help the students in the class you must make sure that you personally review the material being covered as well Planning lessons: you have already suffered through many of the lessons that I teach in Spanish I, II & III…therefore, you are the perfect source for new ideas Preparing materials: as you help me plan new lessons, you will also help me develop new materials. You may creating digital practice, flashcards, quizzes, visual aids or any other sort of strange things I come up with Independent study: Some days I will ask that you engage in independent Spanish study. Sometimes I will give you an assignment to do, sometimes I will give you a topic to cover, and sometimes I will hand you a dictionary and a verb conjugation book and tell you to learn something. Housekeeping: Occasionally, I may also ask you to cover textbooks, move desks, organize craft materials, file or hole punch papers Sub assistant: when a substitute teacher is taking my place you are going to be the main resource GRADING: TA is a pass/fail class. You will pass if you show up and help me out on a daily basis. Respect: It is very important to me that each individual student and teacher is treated with respect. I expect students to be encouraging of each other. Put‐downs and teasing will not be tolerated as they lead to a hostile learning environment. You have a special role as TA, you need to model respect. Be very open to all students and I expect you to act with integrity and confidentiality. Never talk about students that you have helped etc. with anyone outside the classroom. I have read and understand the rules and expectations of Mrs. Leeman’s classroom. I agree to adhere to the rules.
