Benefit from the knowledge and experience of the experts for interior works! How can we help you? A1 Rigidur – new insights, new challenges and new market segments The EN describes construction materials with fire protection classification A1 as follows: "Construction materials of class A1 do not contribute to fire load or increase of the fire during any phase of the fire including the fully developed fire". As from now the Rigidur gypsum fibre boards are classified in the highest class A1. Therefore they can be compared to materials like concrete, steel, glass and ceramics. Thus you get an absolute maximum of safety with Rigidur gypsum fibre boards in preventive fire protection! Furthermore Rigidur H for example is the only gypsum fibre board for timber construction with the approval as per ETA, which achieves the highest classification for fire protection. This fire protection results from the further technical development of the production process and combination of materials of the Rigidur boards. Apart from this the Rigidur boards have already been tested and certified as per European gypsum fibre board standard EN 15283-2 (CE-mark). Of course you can further build on the proven quality features of the Rigidur boards ... Stable: There hardly is any material for dry construction which is as stable as Rigidur. Enormous stability is wanted above all in case of public buildings. Thanks to Rigidur it is also possible to directly screw down loads to the wall like for example shelves or cupboards. Flexible: Due to its flexible sizes it is possible to adjust the boards to special room heights or scopes of application. Standard sizes and special sizes like for example the Rigidur XXL with a size of 6,000 x 2,500 mm are possible. Therefore it is possible to produce joint-free wall or ceiling areas of a size of approximately. 15 m². Healthy: The Institute for Construction Biology has classified the Rigidur gypsum fibre board as an "IBR tested and recommended building material". These products are free of formaldehyde pollution or binding agents and therefore ideal for a healthy indoor environment quality of living and working areas. Smooth: Rigidur boards convince by their extremely smooth and even surface, which corresponds to quality level Q 3 – without any fibres sticking out and without any grinding marks. Therefore it is especially suitable for subsequent coating in excellent quality. Hard: Rigidur board have a high surface hardness and are therefore resistant to mechanical loads like for example blows and scratches. 3 timberconstruction construction timber Rigidur for timber construction For timber construction and the building of prefabricated houses bearing and bracing wall constructions have to fulfil a variety of tasks. These walls have to bear and to transfer vertical as well as horizontal loads. Apart from that they must fulfil the requirements of thermal insulation, protection against humidity, sound insulation and fire protection. With Rigidur H these requirements can be fulfilled with just one construction material. And this with certified safety: The new European Technical Approval ETA-08/0147 certifies that the Rigidur H gypsum fibre boards achieve excellent values for the construction of effective and bracing planking of outside and interior wall boards for timber frame construction, wooden houses of panel construction method and for prefabricated houses. This underlines the efficiency of the Rigidur H products. Furthermore a certificate of the Institute for Research, Development and Material Testing VHT in Darmstadt certifies that the Rigidur H board is also suitable in case of dynamic loads. ETA 08/0147 According to this certificate the Rigidur H in connection with clamps as fasteners is classified as "planking material which can be used without restriction" – as in the sense of DIN 4149:2005-04 – and can be used in seismic zones 2 and 3 as planking material for wooden boards, which accept earthquake loads by in-plane action. Rigips note For detailed information see the brochure "Rigidur H – Planning and execution of construction and systems for timber construction. 4 The Institute for Construction Biology in Rosenheim recommends Rigidur gypsum fibre boards and the Rigidur Nature Line Joint Filler presenting these products with the seal of approval "tested and recommended". Products with this seal allow healthy construction. Further development for timber construction without foil Modern constructions of exterior walls executed as panel construction rely more and more on the construction of walls which are capable of vapour diffusion. In case of planking of exterior walls it is important to use a board material which allows a moderate vapour barrier effect on the inside. A construction capable of vapour diffusion is chosen for the outside. This is just the ability the new Rigidur Hsd boards fulfil in combination with an outside planning capable of capillary diffusion. The newly developed Rigidur Hsd board is a homogeneous gypsum fibre board with integrated vapour retardant. It therefore fulfils one of the most important requirements for the construction of outside walls, i.e. an effective protection as vapour retardant against damages due to condensation. Thus construction of outside walls can be realized with Rigidur Hsd without any foil or synthetic plastic lamination. Rigidur Hsd – Product qualities, scope of application and processing Pi Inside Planking with Rigidur Hsd: Statically effective and bracing Rigidur Hsd – moderate vapour retarding with an sd-value = 4.5 m. Pa Outside planning with Rigidur H: Statically effective and bracing Rigidur H – capable of capillary diffusion with an sd-value of < 0.3 m. • the only homogeneous gypsum fibre board with additional vapour retarding qualities – i.e. without any foil coating. • In case of fire protection constructions the Rigidur Hsd is just as effective as the Rigidur H and can be installed with the available certificates. • Rigidur Hsd fulfils the requirements of bracing of buildings (see national approvals Z-9.1-466 and Z-9.1-571 as well as ETA 08/0147). • No formaldehyde pollution, since it is free of additional binding agents. For more detailed information see the brochure " Rigidur Hsd – The new Rigidur H gypsum board with integrated vapour retardant. 5 dry construction Rigidur for dry interior construction The classical way of application of Rigidur construction boards are installation walls with increased requirements to sturdiness – with one-layer or double-layer planking up to double post and beam walls. The effectiveness of Rigidur can be seen above all in preventive fire protection and sound insulation in case of slim installation walls with only one layer of Rigidur per side of the wall: The board even corresponds to fire resistance class F 30 with only 10 mm planking per side. Depending on the wall construction double planking with 12.5 mm Rigidur boards do not have any problem to reach fire resistance class F 90 as well. The sound insulation qualities of such a construction are also convincing with a value of Rw,R = 62 dB. Fire protection safe construction of shaft walls up to F 120 The General construction supervision test certificate (AbP) for Rigidur shaft walls applies to numerous constructions for the building of non-bearing, space-enclosing –one-sided planked Rigidur shaft walls of fire resistance classes F 30-A, F 60-A, F 90-A or F 120-A as per DIN 4102-2 in case of onesided fire load. For detailed information see the brochure "Planning and Building, – Rigidur Walls". 6 If these system constructions are executed professionally no fire protection-effective insulation will be necessary. As per AbP even service panels, which are suitable for dry construction and feature the necessary fire resistance class, may be installed into non-insulated Rigidur shaft walls. Shipbuilding with Rigidur Marine The newly developed Rigidur Marine board even fulfils the strict requirements of shipbuilding for non-combustibility of construction material and construction parts. Two special qualities of the Rigidur board are extremely important for the area of shipbuilding: non-combustibility and low weight. These two special requirements are impressively combined in the Rigidur Marine as only gypsum fibre board for this scope of application: The Rigidur Marine has got the MED approval and may bear the conformity mark of the steering wheel as per IMO; thus it is clearly marked as a building material, which is suitable for the manufacturing of dry building constructions especially with regard to shipbuilding. Due to the unique possibilities of production we have also been able to considerably decrease the weight of the board as compared to conventional gypsum fibre boards. Therefore interior installation like for example in cabins, alleyways, dining halls or theatres can be easily done. Rigidur Marine is processed just as all the other Rigidur gypsum fibre boards and of course features all the wellknown qualities like high stability, a smooth, scratch-resistant surface and customer-oriented sizes like for example 1,000 x 1,500 or 1,200 x 2,000/2,500 mm. Each of the two combined systems already fulfils a function. Combining those functions you get a new system with new improved characteristics. The development of the Rigips Hybrid wall system is based on this principle. Here, too, two proven and efficient dry construction boards are the basis for a wall system, whose advantages make it a new factor for the design of especially efficient wall constructions – for public building as well as for high-quality domestic construction. The Rigips hybrid wall systems include per side of the wall a double-layer planking of one layer of Rigidur H gypsum fibre boards and another layer of Rigips boards. Depending on the requirements the hybrid systems put the individual strength of the respective boards to the front, in the true sense of the word. Rigidur screed elements are therefore not only used in domestic construction. The Rigidur screed elements which can carry high loads are frequently used in high-load scopes of application with high individual or surface loads like for example for the construction of office and administration buildings, schools, hospitals and hotels. Rigidur screed elements: Dry screed with a large variety of possible application • Rigidur screed elements have a size of 500 x 1,500 mm and feature a rebate of 50 mm on all four sides, which allows a friction-locked and overlapping installation. This results in a continuous area of dry screed with excellent quality features. • Short economic time of installation due to dry installation. No long setting times must be regarded like in case of wet screeds. • After a maximum of 24 hours all commonly used floor coverings can be applied to the Rigidur dry screed. • Rigidur screed elements are also available with lamination of mineral wool and soft wooden fibres. These elements are especially suitable for impact sound insulation and heat insulation. For detailed information see our brochure "Processing guidelines floor with Rigidur screed elements“. 10 • Rigidur screed elements offer a reliable fire resistance to up to F 120 for the load-bearing elements in floor / ceiling. • Their optimized substance (approx. 25 kg/m²) allows installation even on ceilings with only low load bearing capacity. • Complementary accessory system like for example the Rigidur screed adhesive Nature Line without pollutants and PU share, which ensures a clean and simple handling. • Due to their dry and clean installation, their surface hardness and their properties the Rigidur screed elements are suitable for all kinds of surface coverings. energy retrofit Energy retrofit of attics The new energy savings regulations (EnEV) commit house owners to optimize the energy consumption of their house. The losses of heat through the outer shelter of the building, which amount to up to 60% of the energy consumption offer a high potential to save energy. An efficient saving of energy is above all possibly by a skilful insulation in the attic. In this connection the new Rigips Rigidur attic elements provide a reliable solution. Rigidur attic element: One system – many advantages Upgrading to living space • Energy retrofit as per the regulations of the EnEV • With 500 x 1,500 mm the boards feature low weight and handy dimensions fitting through any opening in the roof. • Rigidur H gypsum fibre board as upside material, noncombustible, and unsusceptible to changes of temperature and humidity. • Hard and smooth surface can subsequently be finished with the system-proprietary coating. • Comes with a plant-manufactured shiplap edge for a perfect and lasting installation. • Pressure resistant, highly heat insulating polystyrene hard foam board with various thicknesses for installation on concrete or timber beam ceilings. If later you take the decision to upgrade the once unused attic to living space, you will also find a simple solution of Rigips boards: Installing another Rigidur H gypsum fibre board increases the load-bearing capacity of the Rigidur attic elements to the level of living space. The additional installation height only amounts to 10 mm. Now the area of attic may provide the most important contribution to energy saving and to climate protection. Rigidur attic elements ensure an increase of living comfort, save money due to lower energy costs and at the same time the open market value of the house is improved.
