A. Go to http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/ShapeSorter/ . Click the “Guess
the Rule” button, then the two circles button so that your screen looks like this one:
Do this activity at least five
times. As you complete each
diagram, record the “rules”
for each diagram on
notebook paper. Get the
teacher to initial your paper
when you have completed
five diagrams.
B. Go to http://illuminations.nctm.org/ActivityDetail.aspx?ID=34 . Choose your “rules” by
clicking the bars at the bottom of the screen. Place all of the shapes, according to the
rules. Check your work by clicking the checkmark button.
Do this activity at least three times.
Record your rules on notebook paper.
Have the teacher initial your paper
EACH time you complete a diagram
correctly. Be sure you have placed ALL
of the pieces.
C. Go to http://pbskids.org/cyberchase/games/logic/ . Place the animals into the four pens
correctly. Have the teacher initial your notebook paper when you are done.
D. Now for the hard stuff: go to
http://mathdl.maa.org/images/upload_library/3/Jimenez/VD3_NumbersNOTATION_01.html . Complete levels 1 through 4 successfully. Have the teacher initial
as you complete each level. You may use a calculator.
E. Bonus: Complete levels 5 though 7, the review and the test.
