What does “Region of Choice” refer to? The south teams play out of Beeton or Tottenham, the central teams play out of Alliston and the northern teams play out of Thornton, Utopia or Angus depending on the age. There is no restriction on which region you choose to play in. 3. When will we be notified of a start date from our Coach? U4, U5, U6 – Should receive calls the week of May 20th or 27th. U8 – O22– Should receive calls the week of May 6th or 13th. 4. What does my registration fee cover? Registration and insurance with Ontario Soccer Association , jersey, shorts and socks (U5-U12 + U14G), 2 jerseys, shorts and socks (U14B + U16-O22), a soccer ball, individual and team photo (U5-U18), year-end Awards Day (U5 & U6), weekend Festival and year end event, Aug 24 & 25 (U8 – U12 & U14G), entry into one tournament for teams that choose to act on the opportunity (U14B & U16-O22). 5. Can my child request to play with another child, or play up a division? A player can only move up one age group if: a) The player moving up an age group does not take the place of an age appropriate player registered on time b) A player requesting to play with another does not create an unbalanced team c) It is in best interests of all players and the club as a whole are served by this move d) The President, Head Coach and Convenor have approved the move 6. What do I need to supply for my child to play soccer? Shin pads are mandatory and soccer cleats are recommended. You should also always provide a drink for your child at both games and practices and bring your ball to each practice. 7. How much travel is involved in the Travel League (SCSL)? A season is made up of about 15 games. Half of these games will be played at home. Participating Clubs can include as an example Cookstown, Barrie, Innisfil, Wasaga Beach, Orillia and Bracebridge. Not all teams travel to the same centres. 8. How much travel is involved in Inter League – U8 – U14G? A season is made up of 6 - 7 home games played within our Club. You will travel between Angus, Baxter or Utopia, Alliston and Beeton or Tottenham. 9. If I missed all in person registration dates, how can I register my child? Go to our website www.southsimcoeunited.ca to register online. 10. Why is there a March 10 deadline to determine the number of teams we have in a division? This is our deadline to order uniforms for our recreational teams in order to have the uniforms ready for the start of the season. 11. Can my child be on the same team as his/her friend? Once your child reaches U6 we cannot accommodate placing friends on the same team. We try very hard to balance teams based on players’ abilities. It is very likely you will know someone on the team. 12. Can my child play in a younger division? No child can be registered into a younger division except in the case of a disability where a Doctor’s note has been provided. The Club will need approval from Huronia District Soccer Association as well. 13. Can my child play if he/she was born in 2010? No, we do not accept registrations for any child born after Dec. 31 2009. There is no exception to this rule. 14. How does my child become a referee? All children who have turned 14 by March 31, 2013 are eligible to take the District Referee clinic. Check the website for the link to apply for the clinic. Please contact the club if you are interested. -Year end Event/Tournament/Festival – for U8 – U12 – Weekend of Aug 24th & 25th -Select Tournament - May 25th & 26th For U9 & U10 competitive teams -Competitive Tournament – July 12th -14th for U12, 14, 16 competitive teams -All Star Tournament – August 16th – 18th for U12, U14, U16 16.
