art program major expectations

ART PROGRAM MAJOR EXPECTATIONS:
Students majoring in art studio must satisfactorily complete 11 courses in the department (total includes 2 semesters of Senior Thesis ):
Drawing I (ARST131), at least 8 courses numbered 200 or higher and at least one semester of Senior Thesis; however, two semesters are expected.
These courses must include four additional art studio courses, at least one of which must be in either of the three-dimensional areas (sculpture or architecture)
for a total of five studios, and four art history courses, one of which must be non-Western, one of which must be classical through Renaissance, and one of which
must be post-Renaissance. Further course study in art studio and art history is recommended. 100-level art history courses may, in some cases, be substituted
for the requirement of courses at the 200 level. Majors are required to fulfill their general education requirements as described by the University guidelines,
since all are required to complete a senior thesis for honors.
