Board of Directors Position Description
Purpose: To assist in the governance of club policies/activities and clubhouse maintenance.
Position Description: This woman will commit to attending monthly Board meetings. She will
also commit to willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time. It is
important she also gets to know other members and builds a collegial working relationship that
contributes to consensus. She must also participate in fund raising for the organization; the
capacity of which may be discussed with the President.
Key Responsibilities:










Fully understands and committed to the mission, goals, and objectives of the
organization.
Fully understands the roles and responsibilities of a Director.
Prepares for and attends all meetings of the Board of Directors.
Provides reports, materials, and other items associated with Board responsibilities and
activities in a timely manner.
Suggests policy changes for the organization when necessary.
Serves as Chair for at least one of the organization’s events/projects per year.
Provides general advice and assistance to the organization and its members.
Acts as an ambassador of the organization to the public, at events and among existing
and prospective members.
Informs the Board of all actual and potential conflicts of interest relating to the general
purposes and activities of the organization and to specific issues before the Board.
Other responsibilities as necessary so that the organization may achieve the recognition
and respect within the communities it serves.
Qualifications and Skills Required: This woman should be a self-starter, highly organized, one
who manages time well, good with both verbal and written communication, a motivator, and
committed to the success of the Club.
Training Offered: The President will provide an orientation to the history of the Club, its
mission, the Club focus, and the Board commitment.
Time Commitment: A 2-year commitment is minimal.
Benefits: Upon successful completion of the agreed-upon term of service, the President is
happy to write a letter of recommendation and this volunteer position will look good on a
resume.
