Sarvesh Ajit Ranade B.Tech and M.S. by research Computer Science and Engineering International Institute of Information and Technology Hyderabad. Email: [email protected] Contact: +91 90521 37677 OBJECTIVE To enhance my skills and expertise in software development industry. EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS B.Tech CSE and MS by research (end of 6th semester) Higher Secondary School Examination Secondary School Examination All India rank in IIT-JEE 2008 All India Rank in AIEEE 2008 8.35/10 88.33% 90.91% 4469 2483 (State Rank 161) KEY PROJECTS Discourse Parsing Guide : Prof. Rajeev Sangal Ongoing Verbal Response modes(VRM) is domain independent conversation tagging scheme introduced for therapist-patient scenario which includes modes like Question, Advisement, Interpretation, etc.. Based on intra-sentential features like Subject & object of the sentence, Word features, context and syntactic structure, I will be predicting verbal response modes for each sentence using machine learning approaches. Dialogue Act Tags Detection Guide: Rajeev Sangal Monsoon 2010 English sentences in a text are being annotated with DAMSL dialogue act tags for understanding of discourse. I used bigram approximation, machine learning approach with linguistic features (previous sentence, verb semantics) for prediction of DAMSL tags. I achieved 82% prediction accuracy with respect to gold data. Question Answering in AURA system Guide: Prashanth Mannem Spring 2010 Automated User-centered reasoning and acquisition (AURA) system is a project IIIT Hyderabad is collaboratively doing with Stanford Research Institute for question answering on biology domain. In natural language generation, I implemented “How many type” question type and its answer generation as a part of research assistant work. I did poster presentation on my work on Question Answering at R&D Showcase, IIIT-H 2011. IMPORTANT ACADEMIC PROJECTS Concept Graph Formation from Biology Textbook Guide: Prashanth Mannem Spring 2010 Concept graph is hierarchical structure between concepts in the text used for semantic representation of whole text. I designed a novel approach of creating concept graph from biology textbook by extracting concept-relation triplets using Stanford Dependency Parser, Semantic Role labeller and Wordnet. Automatic Question Generation Guide: Rajeev Sangal Summer 2010 Objective was to automatically generate simple and complex questions from English Paragraph. I used Stanford Dependency Parser and Semantic Role Labeller together to find question type and target sentence and generate questions out of specific question templates. Implemented UDP based Proxy Server implementation Guide: Brudhweshwar Bejawada Spring 2010 The project aimed at building a UDP based web proxy server that serves out HTTP requests of clients. Proxy server maintains a local copy of the HTTP object, its URL and last-modified date sent by web server for the purpose of web caching. UDP packet loss was handled using network timeout. Automatic Resume Builder Guide: Kirti Garg Building resume based on customer’s profession, achievements in web2py framework. Spring 2009 3D environment in graphics with lightening and shading effects Guide: P.J.Narayanan Monsoon 2009 In OpenGL framework, adding lightening and shading effects considering objects shape, size and light source. English-Hindi Machine Translation System for Travellers Guide: V.Sriram Monsoon 2010 English-Hindi translation can help foreign travellers visiting Hyderabad to communicate with local people. I implemented statistical MT system using linguistic tools GIZA++, Moses and SRILM training them on self-created English-Hindi parallel corpus. Building Syntactic and semantic verb frames in Hindi Guide: Soma Paul Monsoon 2010 In Hindi, there are polysemous verbs like “khana”(eat) which have multiple verb frames (argument structure). Based on dependency relations between main verb and its argument (subject, object) I came up with approach to form all possible different semantic and syntactic verb frames for a polysmous verb. POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Working as Research Assistant in “Indian Languages Machine Translation” project funded by TDIL Program, Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India. (Ongoing) I am teaching assistant for “Intro to Databases” in which I have mentored 150 students. (Ongoing) Worked on Treebank development tool “Sanchay” as part of research assistant work. (monsoon 2010) SKILL SET Programming Languages Scripting Languages Linguistic Tools Programming Environment Web Tools C,C++,Java Python, Bash, LISP Stanford Parser, wordnet, SRILM and MST Parsers Vim, Netbeans, Eclipse HTML, PHP, CSS, Web2py, Javascript(Basic) AREAS OF INTEREST Discourse Parsing and analysis of English Texts Machine Translation across Indian Languages Natural Language Generation MISCELLANEOUS I have organized multiplayer gaming event NFS-MW at Felicity, annual festival of IIIT Hyderabad, in which over 200 gamers participated. I have organized stock market game “Equity Pulse” which had over 600 participants. It involved coding based on PHP framework. I like to play table tennis, carom and cricket.
