COURSE AIM:
This course supports all electricians who require the formal qualifications for conducting inspection, testing and
certification of electrical installations. The certificate is the accolade qualification in the Electro-technical industry
and should only be undertaken after a substantial period of practical work in the industry.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
The course is only suitable for people who are qualified as installation electricians, electrical technicians or engineers. A
thorough prior knowledge and experience of electrical installation work is essential and candidates will have successfully
completed and achieved a Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation, plus the 17th Edition IET Wiring
Regulations qualification.
Course entry will be by interview only and candidates will be required to provide proof of qualifications before enrolment.
COURSE CONTENT
This qualification which complies with the Qualifications Credit Framework requirements and is now a two part
qualification:
1. Initial Verification and Certification
2. Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification
This course is a membership requirement by registration bodies such as the NICEIC, NAPIT and the ECA and is
considered the minimum qualification for all persons and businesses who wish to become registered to carry out
Certification and Periodic Inspection and Test work.
The course provides the candidate with a working knowledge of the IET Guidance Note 3 (Inspection and Testing)
as well as an in-depth knowledge of electrical installation testing methods.
COURSE ASSESSMENT
Continuous assessment throughout the course by written assignment work, two online external exams and two
practical assessments.

For the practical assessments, the College will provide a Fluke Multi-function Test meter. Candidates may use
their own Test equipment which must be in calibration date.
